There is anyway no competition for current ruling party. Now with this move, they are killing the mere chances that others have. I’m all up for the govt, but some of their bitch moves really sucks! Way to dictatorship if nothing else -_-

If it’s about anti India, understandble. But something is anti govt, and they be doing this? That’s called a bitch move. We will never know, since details are not transparently available, why imprisionment and penalties?

Now these days everything is which is anti govt, is portrayed as anti India. This is how people are getting brainwashed.

No wonder why joblessness helps the ruling party spread their narrative on social media. Opposition being weak, only helps the current government strengthen their strongholds.

This is yet another significant problem: how easily people assume that if you question the policies of the current government, it means you are from Congress. There is a world outside of BJP/Congress. You can simultaneously like or hate both of them. When will people understand this?

Instead of being a blind supporter, learn to question the government; this is your job. Supporting a party doesn’t mean you should not ask them tough questions. This is how a democracy works.

As rightly said by someone in the comments, we will not learn unless we start suffering ourselves. Such a sad state we are in!

The bjp is truly not insecure, they don't give a fuck in places where they will win without efforts.

But, they always come with intention to win, so they'll do anything. Bribe the MLAs, ED cases, election tampering etc.

At the end, winning at any cost is what they want and they will get it.

I just hope one day people come out of the bubble where they think just breathing everyday is progress and realise how fucked up everything is and we collectively take steps to bring about the best of our country. Till then, it's a downward spiral

Exactly! There is no hope left. Unless people start suffering, I don’t think anything will change.

@Thomas_Shelby You would think, the BJP, which has a pretty certain chance of winning would act like how Intel did with AMD... let the opposition be alive and have a 10-15% share. But instead, they act like the most insecure person in the world. the Chandigarh mayor election was the peak of it.

We never know what post or account was it? If it was something that was promoting hatred or terrorism or even fake news, then we are better off. Before making any judgement, we should try to get more data on this subject.

You missed the entire point of this post. It’s about the transparency not about blocking the accounts.

Censorship has always been a dicey area that India has lacked at from time to time with changing central government sentiments.

Considering BJP at the helm, I feel their censorship would more often than not tend to revolve around topics that are leftist/centrist etc.,

India doesn’t have freedom of speech laws - that’s not an Indian thing, it’s an American thing.

Rights come with responsibilities. Until details don't come out it is too early to judge if it is either suppression of a right or reminder of responsibility for these withheld accounts. Anyways these platforms hardly act on fake news until it becomes viral.

Cost of Freedom

While we complain and whine about all things wrong with our country, which is well within our rights to do so, we also need to acknowledge the cost others paid to get us this freedom.
