Every action has a reaction whether good or evil.Though the results may not accrue spontaneously just after doing any good or evil, It takes time to fructify just like a seed when sown doesn't popup into plant or tree the very next day.Similarly sometimes the reaction for good or bad deeds shows up in next life or even after many lifetimes.Material laws is very stringent.I am not saying this just in air.It has sound basis in our Vedic scriptures I can even quote.But then again many folks are atheist who don't believe in Afterlife, existence of God , Body and soul etc spiritual context.
