Job Scam - how educated people fall for them?

In March 2023, a man received a call from someone claiming to be a recruitment executive for a global carmaker's India unit.

They convinced him he was shortlisted for a senior position but asked for a fee of Rs 1,600 to register.

The scammers kept asking for more money over five months, including Rs 28,000 for a uniform, Rs 80,000 for a check-up, and Rs 2.4 lakh as a salary advance. .

However, after paying around Rs 24 lakh in around 40 transactions, the man realized that he had been cheated

How and why people fall for these? Also how they make over 40 transactions?

Also a lot more people have fallen for scams than I initially thought. It's only when you tell them a story about other scams they tell their story.

That's because people are dumb. And half of them are even dumber. If a job asks for money then you are getting scammed.

Dude, who has spare cash of 24 lakhs for a span of 5 months. The guy got approached for a senior position and this dumb ass wants us to believe that he is dumb enough to be conned like this ?

In Maharashtra, this behaviour is called ‘ Yeda ban ke peda khaane ka’
