In March 2023, a man received a call from someone claiming to be a recruitment executive for a global carmaker's India unit.
They convinced him he was shortlisted for a senior position but asked for a fee of Rs 1,600 to register.
The scammers kept asking for more money over five months, including Rs 28,000 for a uniform, Rs 80,000 for a check-up, and Rs 2.4 lakh as a salary advance. .
However, after paying around Rs 24 lakh in around 40 transactions, the man realized that he had been cheated
How and why people fall for these? Also how they make over 40 transactions?
