joining another company for no hike after getting laid off
Hi I have worked in two startups as backend engineer and here I only did the given work and didnt proactively contribute much to the products. I have been given promotion to SDE 2 without any salary hike. I recently got laid off and I feel like I am not eligible for SDE 2 interviews. I can clear dsa rounds but suck in design rounds. I got a job with same salary at a service based company and I am thinking to join and then prepare to be better at design. is it a good decision? should I join it? YOE: 3y TC: 24L

Good decision. It is better to focus on getting cash in month on month, than chase a mere hike

Hike isn't a problem as TC is decent. The bigger problem is that service based companies might make it difficult to get the next switch at product based companies, compared to a startup.
