Krutrim AI
What is happening with Krutrim? Can anyone from Ola confirm that is it just a wrapper over GPT or a legit ai model? The responses to answers are just terrible. It does not look like a beta product.
Last month, Krutrim AI had attained unicorn status for being the first indigenous LLM AI model of India. There was some hue and cry when it had distorted some historical concept of India.
Today, the beta version was launched and upon pondering, it stated that it’s based of OpenAI’s LLM model…so they spent all this money & resources just a build a wrapper service.
Frankly, this is just another scam & would lose credibility in a blink of an eye. Why do Indians lack innovation & just believe in simple copy pasting.
Views are welcome.
How idiotic is this. I feel ashamed that my country would be seen as a representation of this at some level.
There is a possibility that it is not the model but the synthetic data extracted from OpenAI leading to this result.
Quite possibly it. Even Bard had the same issue.
Not supporting Krutrim in any way but for the technically interested people, this is a likely possibility.
They're dumb but they're probably not that dumb. Most likely trained on open ai data/outputs to speed things up.
Do they even own any GPUs? How did they build an LLM from scratch so fast? The talent capable of this is so hard to find. Who did they poach? Sam Altman started OpenAI with the best technical researchers in the field. Who did this guy hire??
I don’t think so they built it form grounds up. As for Bhavish’s role, he just funded the company Krutrim and add Ola’s brand name to it.
Somehow Sam’s statement makes so much sense now that India can’t build its own AI.
Bhavish not being technical is in fact a good thing. He is a fundraiser and entrepreneur. But my question is how is he attracting the technical talent needed to build this? And who are these people? They should be celebrated just like how Ilya and karpathy have been celebrated from OAI

When will Indian startup founders make an actual original product
Why are we so negative about it? Does it stand a chance to do something amazing with local languages?
How can it win in its own sub-market better than OpenAI or Antropic?
