Layoff proof
How can we be layoff proof even companies like Citi , Barclays , google are firing people
People what are your suggestions to avoid layoffs.
#1 Write UnDocumented and Unmaintainable codes!
I think it's a combination of two parts- good visibility with your higher up and managing your performance reviews.
Do their work on priority and make sure you get tons of visibility on it.
Get tons of visibility with them with frequent update emails of your metrics/ achievements.
Your manager will come in with an impression of you in a review. He'll have some feedback nor the other.
If you're smart, you've anticipated them, know why they're associated with you. It's a game of impression management.
Fight back on a couple negatives/ feedbacks but keep some as room to show improvement in the next review.
Work on them, write out updates showing you're addressing them, keep showing him progress, that you're growing.
Do the above two and you'll get more projects, have a good equation internally and get promotions.
Good suggestions
1/ Maybe provide more value to the org? Like bang for buck. Usually mid management folks get hammered 2/ dirty hack- Indulge in lot of politics, make sure you’ve boss and super boss are really happy with you
Agree with randomjocke.
Either be competent and people vouch for you. Or find a daddy at work. Daddies are always great and will take you with them in their new companies.
Catch your boss with some intern at a club 🤣
It's common here. That doesn't matter
If my company allowed undocumented and unmaintainable code into the codebase, I would screw it up read hard and then resign, just for the fun of it
