My offer is based on my current salary but not skillset??!!!

My current CTC is 8.1 Ipa and during interview rounds, I have asked for 15 LPA as that was the budget of the role. It's an MNC BANK. Not revealing the company. Now they are saying that only a 30% hike is possible because no one in the industry will give more than 30% of the current salary it seems. I asked what kind of logic is this as my skill sets are good and I have cleared all technical rounds. They say that's how it is. This is in hr discussion.

What to do in such a situation? How to ask?

Not sure why you are so surprised about this. This is like basic CTC calculation in India in a nutshell.

Then usually if you want 100% of your salary, you have to do a switch, right? If they also have this 30% rule, how will this workout?

You negotiate with multiple offers. And quite frankly it is a tedious process. Best case scenario they agree at 60 to 70% with a lot of caveats. No way around it unless you are applying at companies that are based out of India, that actually value skills over compensation. That is the harsh reality.

Also side note keep tax slabs in mind as well when negotiating atleast until you get to the point where it doesn't matter.

Your skillset is measured by your current salary in the eyes of HR

Stuck in the exact same situation. Say no if you can or accept and keep looking to renegotiate/better hike. The HR told me accept within the day or the offer is gone.
