Need Suggestion

Hi,

I am getting frequent harrasment calls from Some recovery agents from SBI agents because one of my friend has defaulted for payments. Where should I report this. Don't know why they came to my address too. My friend says his credit card is written off and he is also getting these calls. He had not given my number too as he had taken this card in 2015 and we didnt even know each other. Obviously I am not going to pay but where can I report this as they are aggressively trying to harrass me

  1. Your friend must have given them your number
  2. You can report the harassment to RBI Ombudsman email and mention the recovery agent name / number / agency

Generally what happens is the original lender sells off these written off accounts to other agencies. These agencies then run after the borrowers to collect and earn money. Report the agency to RBI. Make a big hullabaloo on LinkedIn/ twitter. And give them your friend’s address because he is the one who must have passed them your number

How can I check for the agency name. They are faceless people trying to call from other numbers. They did not reveal their agency name

Ha it’s a tricky one. Generally it’s a bad case. But get them to send you an email. You can use the email domain name to find agency.

Or you just explain to them that you won’t pay. Generally as long as you clearly say that won’t pay they won’t call you again. Also, by law rbi forbids agents to come knocking on your door. Calls and sms are allowed
