Planning my career as a frontend developer

I have 1.5 YoE as a frontend developer in an early stage startup.

I need help with deciding where do I go from here? Do I deep dive into frontend? Do I try to move to full stack?

Things to consider:

  • I am from a non CS background
  • frontend in India seems to be a bit saturated, especially for entry/mid level roles.

I'd appreciate your advice, thanks :)

It is saturated everywhere in the world. Dont go FS as u will become jack of all and master of none and will find it irritating at some stages to crack interviews where indepth will be asked.

Deep dive in FE is one option and if u dont like it move to something else slowly as frontend asa career is not for a long run.
U can be Tech Lead for 10-12 years experience. But u wont get promoted post that into Engg Manager roles as Backend guys are given priorities and a very jobs are left for people with 13-14+ years of exp in frontend.

Are you saying that eventually I'll have to venture into the backend side of things if I want to be promoted to senior roles?

Or cloud or infra side. Yes! India doesnt have those specific IC roles for frontend alot. Only in a few 10-15 companies you would find that. And given the saturation you can comprehend how much you would have to fight for it.
