OTP verification!! Not again 🤨
Why does this app keep asking for a phone number every time I login? Isn't one time OTP verification sufficient? Such a bummer.
So in my last 4 rapdio bike rides, OTP was same 9996 How is this possible?
Its not a bug its a feature.
They don't change the OTP so that you memorize it over time. There's a very low chance of getting a repeat bike captain and the bike captain remembering your OTP from a previous ride. So low chances of fraud. Not foolproof, but the downside is limited.
But some of the people might have the same otp, right?
Sure. But what are the odds of these people being in the same location at the same time? What's the risk that you foresee?
Namma Yatri does the same now.
Namma takes your last 4 digits of your registered mobile number
Now we know OP's phone number's last 4 digits
Actually my first four digits But that steals the concept of password right? What if somebody with same starting digits takes my ride?
They have your numbers in their database. People with the same first 4 digits in the same location probably won't have the same OTP.

How to solve such cases?

I again got forcefully logged out of grapevine app and when I tried to login, i got 7 OTPs
Did anyone else face this issue ?
For some reason this app (loan provider) does not seem to have implemented rate limiting on OTP requests. I have received 10+ otps in the last hour on my number. Their customer care is unresponsive. While the chances are still low - a sc...
