Core Engineering Graduate openings have been zero for a generation, atleast from the colleges of my circle. No new positions, only replacements.

From what I see there are a considerable amount of jobs out there, but the applying folks are just not to the par, and job requirements and people skills/experience do not match up in many cases
I have no knowledge. As I said, these jobs dint came to campuses I have friends from.
It hurts to be excluded from list of what is considered engineering, SW Engineering is not engineering 😓
If you are working on compilers, languages, algorithms etc, then you are a core engineer, In my humble opinion most software "engineers" who develop applications are just glorified electricians and plumbers. Same goes for Mechanical "Engineers" who just know how to use CAD applications, Sorry, not trying to be offensive, just my opinion. I too do a similar kind of application development at my job besides machine design
Hurt is not coming from ego being hurt but understanding that the livelihood earning from what is considered beneath engineering, so many lives dependent on it, some many life challenges being handled by money earned from this, children future depended on it, confidence of facing health scare, fightback against frauds, scheming relatives.
After spending thousands and thousands of hours working honestly facing psychotic managers, making life long friends with teamates, if to be rejected and dismissed as lesser being, it feels dejection.
I burnt my hands with deep tech lol. Tried AI before the AI wave. Connected with many VCs who were interested but Co-founder wasn't the right fit, even though it was his idea mostly.
