Anyone knows what is the process in TCS to get the grade from C1 to C2 showing overall experience as 4 years. In TCS i have 2 years as of today. Please guide if someone knows how to apply for C2 grade and eligibility criteria for the same.

There is no eligibility criteria. Probably just the YOE above 4 or 4.5 years

But whatever your manager tells you, that is the eligibility criteria for you.

Since you said you joined 2 years ago, i assume you have a good pay (compared to your peers in your project). Considering that and only 2 years in TCS, the chances of promotion is highly unlikely.

You cant apply. You need to talk to your manager. Your manager wont say No.

Your manager may tell you that he is ready to raise next quarter. Then he will tell you there is no promotion for next quarter. Then he will tell you that he raised the promotion but it is yet to be approved. He will tell you for a few more quarters that it is pending with Corporate/HR.

You can ask and get to know the response but dont take the response seriously.

At TCS, if you want to go from C1 to C2 level, with an overall experience of 4 years, you can consider seniority as a factor. Well, TCS offers promotions based on seniority and if you have 4 years of experience then there’s a chance for you to get promoted easily. However, if you still haven’t climbed up the ladder, probably you should consider giving your best performance, as TCS annually reviews employee performances. You can also consider maintaining cordial relations with your TL and DM who can recommend you for promotions. Remember, ultimately it is the hard work and tactical mindset that pays off in the corporate world.

With an overall experience of 4 years, you can upgrade yourself from C1 to C2 in terms of seniority. The promotion cycle of TCS is quite organised and there shouldn’t be any problem for getting promoted. There are various ways to get promoted from C1 to C2 in TCS. First, you can work exceptionally well so the management considers you for promotions. Every year, TCS reviews employee performance, based on which you can get promoted. Also, it may seem a little cliche, but maintaining good relations with your TL and DM can help you get promoted.
