Hi all, I am a recent BCA graduate , from tier 3 college. I was hoping that i would get a chance to work on amazing techstack when i joined Deloitte but unfortunately they onboarded me pretty late and i had already rejected offers for few organisations for the role of SDE, junior AI/ML associate and so on in the respective field. I did this because i was hoping that Big4 is a better place to learn and grow. When i joined in Feb 23 i was given training on Software Testing where i don’t have interest and i tried reaching higher ups but they told i might get a chance to work on tech i am interested in when i get projects. So i pursued this and got project on Testing as well, there also people said if you want to work on other areas there is no guarantee but you can help the developers as well and learn. Maybe you will get the chance to shift from QA but no guarantee. I am so frustrated with my current position, wherever i am applying they are not hiring me for the reason of having irrelevant experience and i can’t do internships as my family condition is not good and i have to constantly support them. I am stuck between quitting and taking a break due to financial problems but if i continue this how will i build relevant experience and switch to a different organisation.
I request everyone to kindly help me getting a clarity, what should i do ? Can anyone help me get a different job role somewhere else? I am open to work in the field of Data and AI , Analytics as well.

Should i modify the work experience as of growth analytics person or keep it original as of QA
Keep few lines of experience as a QA and add that you also worked on some project using SQL. I mean keep it as you are working on both things. Actually the position they are hiring is for Business Analyst, so in the interview they are mainly focusing on Advanced SQL, Guess-estimate and problem solving.
@Frustrated_QA in the same way I am stucked in the field other than IT, I am currently working in the Research domain but I have interest in the field of Data Science and Analytics. But all are looking for experience only, even I can't join any internship by leaving my full time job cause I have to support my family. Because internships don't guarantee us to the conversion of Full-time. What we will do after 3-6 months, again we will be begging around for jobs and at that time nothing will be there in our hands for the survival. Life is getting so tougher and tougher. Don't know how to come out of this job..very badly stucked in the current job and unable to transition my career in Data domain.

Yes buddy 😓, I am getting very few opportunities but that too I am giving interviews as an experienced. But then while I solve the SQL queries by thinking a bit slow and doing, and they are expecting that I should be a fast thinker with good hands-on experience and got rejected.
Since you are QA you already know what the feature is and how it works, all you need to do is learn in your free time how to build the feature, I am assuming you will have access to the codebase to learn and read the code.
Just put in resume that you build the feature
Okay, so you mean basically write on cv that i worked as a developer?
Whats the harm, try and see if you are getting calls and converting, to join or not to join after you get offer is your call.
It will become difficult to switch to developer role if you stay in QA role for too long, I know someone who got stuck in QA role for 6 years before switching
In India's tech industry, growth in QA roles will plateau around the 5-year mark. I have seen this up close happening with my colleagues.
To avoid stagnation, focus on transitioning to software engineering - web dev/app dev/ai ml.
Study through online resources, build projects, and network to open up new opportunities.
SWITCH ASAP.
The projects you make during preparation add them to your resume and apply for engineering roles in startups. Please first anchor your career in the right direction and then go preparing and cracking interviews of big companies.
Remember, it's not an easy journey, especially with financial responsibilities, but with determination and strategic planning, you can navigate towards a more fulfilling career path. Keep pushing forward, and don't hesitate to seek support from friends, family, online communities and networking opportunities along the way. You've got this! Stay strong and keep your chin up!
