Unpopular Opinion : Financial independence but at parents home

It does sound selfish, and probably is, too.

But I think it is the best form of independence while earning. You can buy anything you want, no permission (maybe scolding if splurging) You get home food everyday You are there for your parents all along Hopefully would be helpful in case of emergencies

Plus, save a lot on rent, maid, food, among other stuff.

P.S. I have lived alone (in Bangalore) where I cooked and cleaned my little (rented) house. But to cook for one person either makes you eat leftovers or order take outs. Home to office to home, I was working mechanically, not hearing my own voice for days.

You dont have to spend to build assets. You can invest in Equity or MF and they are assets too.

Is it bad that I still live with my parents at the age of 26?

I'm 26 and still living with my parents. I help out at home and work whenever I can. Rent is too high right now, so it'll be a few years before I can move out. It feels more common these days. What do you think, what should I do?
