If any individual keep portraying negative picture about anything, check if they are selling courses as a remedy against the same.

Fear is a tried, tested sales tactic.

Valid for Akshat & many others as well :)

Amul.exe isn’t selling courses or anything to PMs. Instead he avoids any sort of advice to PMs altogether

How would the career pan out then? How do you plan to manage it for the long term?

PM definition is very vague in India. There is no proper role definition. What Amul said is true for developer-turned-PMs who speak to teams and are involved in execution. That doesn't require a major skill other than communication. Especially for Developer turned PMs it is a cakewalk. The future of the PM role lies in the Business side where you do product discovery, GTM, growth, etc. PMs with IIM degrees having business PM experience will be a hot cake in the market because they are involved in bringing actual business/revenue to the company

How is this role still super preferred by so many applicants?

PM roles are fine and would still exist. What companies need from PMs is a bold thinking. Not some safeplay where AI is a feature, but an actual reimagining of the current process and understanding where they are vulnerable. Sadly, most PMs don’t have that. Most don’t even understand the basics of AI to know what’s possible or not. Many outsource their thinking to some podcast, OR some influential leader and just adapt that to their current product. You can see that very well in the interviews these guys give.

While he makes some good points sometimes, I have always found his reasoning rather shallow. Muted long back. He used to post on JEE as well, and most of his JEE takes were incorrect.

Future of PM 🔦
