What Do You Do When You Need to Relax and Compose Yourself on the Job?

Ideally you're doing your job because you love it, but that doesn't mean you're never overwhelmed or stressed out. When the pressure of your job pushes your stress needle into the red zone, what do you do to relax and compose yourself?

Lifting consistently has changed my life fundamentally and helped me in this regard so much. Previously when I used to have bad days I used to just with the negative emotions. Now, it helps me PR in the gym. It’s an addiction at this point. Highly recommend. The only drawback is that the whole routine can be quite time consuming.. as in including getting ready, getting to the gym, and so on outside of the workout itself. But it’s good to dedicate 2 hours 4-5x a week to yourself. The highest form of self respect!

I find my escapism through TV series / Anime. Probably the only comfort zones in my life. 🤌🏻

Also, sleeping helps as well like one of the homie suggested.

Most of us are not saving lives in our day jobs. The deadlines are all set by people whom you'd not be able to differentiate from yourselves on a bus. Rocket launches have failed, if my feature does not get pushed in the next release, nothing of significance will happen.

Just the realisation that the worst case is a delayed promotion or a pip layoff, brings some comfort.

More tactically, i try to complete the 150 heart points target on Google Fit. I try to workout 3 times a week, this year's average would be 2.2 times a week. I also have a strong closing ritual. The last 45min-1hr i avoid screen time and go for a walk. Maybe I talk to someone, but no music/ podcast etc. After the walk my body knows it's time to sleep - helps fall asleep faster and improves sleep quality. And no recovery like a good 7-8hr sleep
