What do you think: FAANG was (or wasn't) worth it?
I've gotten very comfortable now. WFH many days, take regular yoga and breaks without anyone asking where I've been. As long as I'm getting my work done and I'm in the meetings I need to be in, no one really asks me what I'm doing.
Sometimes it nags me that I could be doing better things with my time but the money is just too good.
So I'm asking you all, how did you decide where that balance was and if you're happy with your choice?
Have felt that way but I can't do much now. Have a wife and kids, plus EMIs and too much counting on me. Sometimes I feel I could've taken more risk when I was young but it is okay ig.
Isn’t wlb in uber bad? Or are there good teams as well? With decent wlb like <40hr/ week?
Hey I think I will be in the same boat after 1-2 yrs from now. May I know what’s your CTC and what all risks you are talking about that you could have taken?
I feel happy that the work I do is pretty chill. I am happy that the time I spent grinding at coding, DSA, extra curriculars etc.
Yeah I feel the same, taking this time to look for new hobbies and finding new ways for fulfilment
Hey, my 2 Rs
I was working in startups for a while before making the move to faang...
I have struggled with
- Prioritisation (cause there is just so much that can be done)
- People (so many people doing diff tasks! So many teams! So much info!!)
- Protocols (baggage here is a lot)
But I do feel I'm doing better work here than before. I actually feel I'm working harder. There is something that they have done magically where I'm not in a high gear but still productive.
