What does "We'll keep your resume on file" mean ?

So, I've been reaching out to a few consulting companies and all of them say "Hey, we are not hiring right now but I've shared your CV to keep on file". What does this statement actually mean and what "file" is this?

Basically it means they will keep it in their database and if a role opens in the future that your resume is a match for they will reach out to you

"on file" is just the old school version of save for later. Back when people kept documents in physical files. Lol.

It means your resume has been saved ....in the screenshots folder

They’ve included your resume in their applicants database and if you’re relevant for the next role they’re hiring for, they’ll reach out to you. Basically, you just have to move on from that company now and find others.

Should I admit to the recruiter, that i got laid off

Recently i got laid off. Now that i start appearing for interviews should i make it explicit i was laid off and i am ready to join immediately. Or should I state something else as the reason of a break that might be there post 1st April ?
