Should I admit to the recruiter, that i got laid off

Recently i got laid off. Now that i start appearing for interviews should i make it explicit i was laid off and i am ready to join immediately. Or should I state something else as the reason of a break that might be there post 1st April ?

if the firm is well known then it’s best to admit that your role was impacted because of xyz reasons.

I don’t see why you should hide this, so many folks are impacted and it’s mostly due to macro factors.

Is this during the recruiter shortlisting round? If yes, I would suggest to mention that the team you were working under got dissolved and that you can join quickly if selected. Recruiters would prefer someone who joins quickly. CTC negotiation can become tricky, but that’s only if you get selected. For the question on salary expectations, it’s best to say ‘Market standards/ Company standards’ rather than anchor on a figure. Your objective is to get shortlisted to meet the hiring manager.

As a recruiter , given the current climate of the tech market , there is absolutely no issue in declaring the fact that u have been laid off If you mention this reason , then it might work in ur favour as u would be a potential candidate who could join them immediately and trust me on this .... recruiters would literally die for a candidate who joins them immediately

It may affect the offer they give you since they could be in an impression that you can be bended for less since you lack option, unless you are in a position to negotiate by showing other offer letters

My resume says, I'm still in the company. There is no end date. But when I'm talking to the recruiter, if asked I mention else not. But in the interviews, I mention that I've been laid off. Shortlist of resume is priority. After that it becomes chill.

Yes. I did for a change recently. I straight up shared news articles of the layoff to show i was impacted among many others
