Why are both employee and employer contributions for PF deducted from the employer's salary ?

It's 12% of your base. Can be reduced, but only the hr teams know how to do it.

Some companies pay 12% of basic as employer contributions and some does ₹1800. How does it make a difference in overall package ? Which is beneficial?
