Worth joining IIT roorkee or Jodhpur for Mdes.

Gave CEED this year but don't think I can convert Bombay, Delhi or Guwahati. Are Roorkee or Jodhpur well regarded in the design community?

My priority is getting a decent paying job in a good company. My plan, if I join these colleges, is to focus on getting a good internship from day 1. I've heard big companies come on campus in Bombay and Guwahati for internship. Do they take students from other colleges too?

College doesn't matter- portfolio does. Folks without M.des are killing it. Don't be dependent on your degree at all. Hence the college doesn't matter much. The efforts you put in matters a lot. Both are IITs. Enough to give you that IIT tag that gives you temporary joy

as someone from iit guwahati, i can confirm that internship opportunities are damn good here. nowhere else will you find so many companies offering 1 to 1.5 lakhs a month for a ux design intern. the faculty are more retarded at roorkee and jodhpur but not like faculty of guwahati or bombay are good either.

but ps: im not sure about if these companies visit roorkee or jodhpur as well. worst case scenario, you'll still have your iit tag and you could try your shot at the same roles.

Colleges matter. This is harsh reality. Surely portfolio matters alot but college gives a better launchpad.

As compared to Bombay, Guwahati, Delhi neither Jodhpur or Roorkee can be at the same level in terms of Placement or even Academics.

Roorkee in the past had alot of Engineer turned designers due to the clubs they have and now design discipline.

Roorkee does get better placements as compared to Jodhpur but ofc not as good as Delhi or Mumbai. Tier 1 cities matter alot.

Roorkee often has a lot of students in Flipkart. We used to joke how Roorkee and Guwahati are seeder colleges for Flipkart.
