I am a Product Designer at an Edtech Startup (raising 20m Series B soon) with almost a year (1) of full time experience but overall almost 3 (including internships) at some great companies.
As I am looking for a change what salary should I expect? Considering:-
So what salary should I be expecting? (Keeping aside the ESOP/RSU part) Is ~ 1.25L/month in hand is right ask?
Please suggest.

I am from non design background and I started with 12lpa in hand and after 10 months I hiked it up to 18lpa fixed. You need to believe in yourself and target better companies you respect design

Why exactly do the companies not see Internships as work experience.
I understand that earlier interns didnt used to work on real projects, mostly did research help or peripheral work to help the permanent employee but the earlier is almost 15years ago now.
Interns have built and shipped products. Some good startups at least get them to join as the founding team member.
I'm a 2021 grad and whatever I'm sharing is based on my experience - not some 15 year old tale I heard.
Simply put, even though interns think that their project has impact, it's negligible and in most of the cases P1. I've been on both sides of the table and unfortunately that's the truth for a variety of reasons. And, I was the intern who used to think this.
Companies hire interns to help there FTE do something which is not effective enough considering their pay. Simple cost vs impact analysis. Here interns pay is less and hence the hire
70-90k is good for 1yoe. Next switch me ask more but 1.25 in hand is a lot. Tax and all dekhe mango
Tax slab se toh top vala hii jaega. Considering the rentals in tier 1 cities, cost of living, insurances or savings and genZ lifestyle (minus Nasha and flex). 1L+ toh maangta hai...I guess... in this era.
I agree but wahi hai chicken and the egg.. if you dont have the skills and/or a brand company which good design culture & leads, your next switch might be difficult and there is would be no justification on why they should pay you so much. 1yoe ke liye tho 1.25L is too much lol. If you want that much. 2-2.5yrs ka master’s karlo NID/IIT se. Easily mil jayega
With that experience, I'd expect 15-17LPA range given the experience, unless of course you're able to significantly impress somebody because of pure skills.
But more importantly, which edtech startup is able to raise a 20M Series B in this market 👀
What skills do you mean ,can u elaborate what cpamies would look from 2 years experience.
They signed some MOUs a while ago and as we are expanding Internationally soon + a new competitor in the market acts like a sparking fire. (And ofc there are multiple investors led by the primary VC)
The investors don't want to lose to their competitor Investors.
Tho I am sure the investors would pull it down to 14-15m with all the "market is tough" etc.
