I know this will sound like a very biased opinion but just sharing my 2 cents of today’s market.

The way with highest probability of success, money and ensuring a better future for your future generations is to startup.

It has the highest risk, highest reward. But in today’s landscape: where inflation is always higher than your hike, there’s no guarantee of employment even in next 1 years, the effort to remain in top 1% is humongous and many other reasons like that, really make me feel that if you’re able to start a company and even capture 0.1% of market who’s willing to pay something for your service/product, that’s all you need. Of course the struggle doesn’t end there and you have to keep working for as long as possible? But your capacity to earn and provide for generations to come is much higher than working for someone else.

The guaranteed way to success (if there’s one)

It depends, founding a startup is a 24/7. For me, I need the time that 9-5 jobs provide after work for my health issues. Also my current company is doing a lot of layoffs so everyday I start with uncertainty and anxiety, but cannot quit cos I need the income. We are definitely moving backwards in growth in this corporate slavery, expensive education and inflation. In India, Our entire identities is based on our jobs as though your life is useless if you don’t have one!!

Remembered the movie on blackberry that I saw couple weeks ago and how it was this crazy, hard-ass ceo took charge and actually turned the company around, otherwise Blackberry would be nowhere in our memories today.

So I interviewed for a SaaS company serving US clients. I got selected after three rounds (basic email chat, built a project, technical coding round at last) and got selected. 

Finally, it was time to discuss salary and joining date with the CEO. He was impressed by the about section on my portfolio, where I mentioned that I like to go on treks, hikes, read books, lift weights, go on a run, etc. During our call he mentioned that everyone at the startup works 6-7days a week, 12hrs a day and asked if I'd be fine with it as I have a "happening life".

I said that I'm not used to it but I'll manage and work in appropriate working hours. He seemed to agree on it.

But he ghosted me after that, and when I pinged him in the email thread; he said he's not moving ahead with me because my other properties won't allow me to "work as much as other employees".

How am I supposed to react to this lol

I didn't get selected because... I have a happening life?

After reading replies in grapevine for dystopian policies, HR policies, work culture, companies to avoid(looks like all companies should be avoided), related questions I'm kind of regretting as I took the decision to stay back in India and not pursue masters abroad to live with my parents.

Given how pathetic the work culture is in almost all the startups(I'll go with 99.99%), politics and poor work life balance and living in a country where I don't get any tax benefits even after paying 30+% direct income tax, is it really worth living in this country anymore ? I'm feeling very sad, looks like I missed the opportunity to go abroad as I'm 25 now. Only my love towards my parents is holding me back since they both are around the age of 60 and I don't want to be the son who will make crores of money abroad and not be with them in case of any emergency. I'm don't want to leave them alone. Looks like there is no hope working in India. 😔

Getting taste of money early in life shapes career very differently. Opinion?

Depends person to person and how much money really. 
  
 In my case, when I used to earn meagre decent(say top 10% of country salary), I used to save a lot, never spend anywhere unless absolutely needed etc. But, once I started earning top 2-4% and living in Bangalore within 1.6yrs of my career, I became too engrossed in chasing money and spending on luxury. For me, I believe, too much money especially when I didn't think I deserved it, made me into someone who didn't focus on his skills and became complacent.  
   I am trying to fix that now 
  
 My learning - Never focus on money initially, always upskill, always earn what you are worth and work towards increasing your worth! 
 At the same time, know your roots, be grounded and work on building effective relationships(realised that this is what makes me truly happy)

Product Manager

A little about me. I'm a BE CSE 2021 passout. I have 1 year of work experience as a Software Engineer at a startup right out of college. After that, a friend and I decided to build a product together. We incorporated a company, went on to look for investors, got enough funding to last a team of 3 for a year. We hired an employee, and then I quit my job to work at this company full time. It's been 2 years since. I am still single, living with my parents.

Long story short, the product isn't doing well. 2 months ago, the company pivoted to services and consulting, and the good news is we just got our first client. The project is small and simple (and we are running a loss taking it), but we believe this is the first of many, and the client is very wide reaching and has lots of connections.

I've been pressured by my parents and relatives to quit the company and start jobseeking again.

I currently handle the entire backend development and software architecture, so definitely got the skills, but given the current job market, I think my time would be better spent working on the consulting services rather than jobseeking. I have tried multiple times explaining to my Dad and uncle that I want to concentrate on what I am currently doing, rather than looking for a job and losing what I currently have.

Help! Criticism accepted, but please help me find a way to convince everyone to stop pressing me to leave the company I co-founded.

There should be a policy to atleast do some YOGA on daily basis guided by baba ramdev for atleast an hr within working hours

1- It increases your focus
2- It increases productivity 
3- It creates good work culture 
4- It motivates progressive mindset

Tcs must have flexible working hours no matter its of any domain or bpo..

Even service desk and L2 people need to breathe.

Management should consider this seriously if they are looking for actual results. 

This step will surely ensure that tcs cares for employees and is employee specific.

Joined a product based Company two months back. Company culture is great. decent pay. good policies like insurance, cab, leaves etc.
But in the department I'm working at, the work is very Toxic.
It's minimum 9 hours everyday (continuous stretch). and what's surprising is stress and hectic work is normalised here. No one talks about. no signs of change as well.
