Couples with a kid - What is your routine like??

Hello, In today's world most of the married couples are working. How do you guys manage your non-work life together like kids, food, grocery, shopping, house chores? As most of us come from a background where our mothers are housewives and she used to manage the household chores like cooking, house management, kids and other indoor stuff and our fathers used to go out and earn money, and manage outdoor stuff. Now, this paradigm has been changed and I fully accept this maturely but I want to fit in this new model. Can anyone tell me how they are managing it positively? Thanks for your time and only serious answers please.

Is it just me or is even a job at the best Tech companies just don’t make any sense for women? There are always women who have great family support or husbands that are understanding and encouraging. But generally why does it seem like becoming a senior woman in tech even at the best places is sort of unattractive and significantly increases your odds of “failure” outside of work e.g. divorce,having kids late? Interested for thoughts from both men and women.

I grew up with a stay at home mom but I have plenty of friends who grew up with “power couple” parents. If anything, the kids with working moms were better prepared for school and were more... polished? And I know plenty of fuck ups whose retarded moms stayed at home and/or whose parents ended up in nasty ass divorces with their “helpless” moms cleaning out their dads. I don’t think there is anything wrong with nannies and having help. You grow to love them in a different way and they give you another perspective as you grow. It’s not like kids with nannies automatically assume that their parents don’t love them, and it’s rare for both parents to be completely absent all the time unless they never wanted kids in the first place. I feel like the argument against nannies and career women is usually made from bitter people who can’t afford them I won’t settle for someone who doesn’t have a career. Not a job, a career. Maybe she’ll make the decision to stay at home for a few years but I don’t want to bankroll the seamless and reality show watching habits of an intellectually lazy partner for the rest of my life. I’ve seen firsthand the type of woman who doesn’t want to be challenged, what happens to the men who marry them, and how their kids turn out. Fuck that noise. This isn’t the 1980s And if you think you can maintain your lifestyle in Bangalore/Mumbai once you have kids on a single income, think again, especially when your friends have paired off with those dreaded career girls.

This should include everything from home bills, entertainment, medical expenses, trips etc. When I was single (back in 2016), my expenses were around 20k per month. Now I easily go above 1L every month (without rent, we live in our own house). My wife also works and she has her expenses too. Not sure what’s the reason for it though. We live frugally and don’t spend lavishly (atleast I don’t think we do). I barely buy anything for myself (I use 1k earphones and buy clothes from decathalon). My wife is the same. Is this common when you get married? That your expenses permanently increase? Or is there something I should be worried about? TIA

Hello married folks, how have you been managing work after getting married and having kids. Sometimes it gets really hectic to give time to all things at once. Your spouse, kids, work, parents, exercise, upskilling etc. What suggestions do you have with regards to this?

I'm at that age where is tremendous pressure to get married. Can't even put in words the kind of torture I go through every day. I'm a woman. I have met people mostly through AM set up. I didn't click with anyone. I don't have faith that I'll be anyone compatible through AM route. Tried dating app, quickly realised it's not for me, the compatibility is even worse there. I go to events and such, didn't really meet anyone. Idk if it's just the Kannada culture, everyone is just so shy! I enjoy being by myself but would prefer being with a partner. I realise the importance of having a companion. At the same time, I also don't want to just get married to someone for the sake of it. So Bengalurians, especially Kannadigas, where did you meet your partner/SO/spouse? What is something I should be doing that I'm not doing? On the work front, I'm doing quite well. Looks wise too, I don't think I'm ugly.

I was talking to a colleague at office and got shocked to hear that he is paying around 5 lakhs per annum for his 4 year old kid who just goes to a play school. Looks like there has been major inflation in education and I've been out of touch of this. I remember even top private schools having max monthly fees around 5k some 10 years back. Folks with kids in Bangalore, how are you managing your child's education and how much do you spend on it? Are there any cheap alternatives like KV/govt schools? Also, with education getting so expensive it would definitely act as a deterrent for couples to have kids !

How much inhand income for a couple is good enough to lead a decent upper middle class life in Banglore….. Looking at the overpriced real estate and exorbitant rents and school fees for kids, young people these days are really worried about getting married. Married people please share some insights….. My def of Upper middle class life for a new couple… 1. 2bhk in a gated society or decent standalone building. 2. Gym and healthy life style 3. Movies / concerts / events twice a month 4. One 2-day and one week long tour in a year 5. A decent car (something like nexon / breeza) 6. Able to invest a lil bit for retirement. How much would be required for leading such a lifestyle ?
