27F Engineer: Software Engineering Not Worth It For Women?

This might be controversial but i want to know just why so many benefits for women in tech ? , I saw special hackathons only for women and also special trainings from big companies like Amazon only for women and of course diversity hiring. Is it because men can't work enough and women do more or what ?

Women in startups how do you feel about the 400 member strong tech team with just a few women developers and product and project managers? Men just don’t get it- all our lunch hour conversations about which fit girl and mommy they saw in the gym and which HR is cute. They talk about how they are just not able to find qualified and good female developers and how they prefer to not hire them because they cry so easily under pressure. While I am at a pretty good positon and work shoulder to shoulder with my all male team, I feel extremely weird about how all men are okay with male bosses being random and rude and somehow associate it with how intimidating and god like these male bosses are. Same for women is bitchy and entitled. When around them 12 hours a day, I tend to internalise how they view men and women. I am above average smart, joined top consulting firm out of undergrad and work on key projects at a startup at all but 23 years. But I tend to internalise the need to be pretty and slim, and polite or they would talk about me like this behind my back. What to do

Am I the asshole? After a few months clear to me an employee was taking company for a ride. Average a few days a week in the office, otherwise sick/on errands, delivered no work. CTC 55L. Before I could fire her, she announced she was taking Maternity leave a few months into the job. Well crap guess I need to pay her for 6 more months more because of laws I don't understand. Rip my bank account. She returns, same issues. I put her on a pip & she resigned telling me I'm sexist and it will be hard to find a new job now. I say sorry, performance was bad, she can do pip and stay if things are better. She askes for 2 months salary and i agree. A lawyer calls telling me I need to pay more or they will file a case. Said I discriminated to her, and it's not legal. I think this person is a bully/psycho/self entitled. But am I the asshole?

I was having a conversation with a few colleagues the other day, and they mentioned that I was lucky and privileged to be a woman in STEM right now. This got me thinking, as I've always felt that women were underrepresented in tech roles. I'd love to know your perspectives on this. Men on GV, do you think being a woman in tech has any specific advantages or privileges? Women on GV, how has your experience been as a woman in STEM, and do you feel it differs significantly from your male counterparts?

The budgets have been cut for diversity hiring. This is also in response to a lawsuit from conservative groups. Is it happening in IDCs too? My fiancé’s pay is 3x mine. And I feel guilty for not being able to scale up to a respectable pay or career advancement. This is my capacity - I am slow paced and a late bloomer in everything in my life. I feel like I don’t deserve a fiancé with 3x pay as mine and could find someone better than me as I was questioned by my fiancé about my career trajectory. I keep wondering in what way I can contribute my share once we settle. How will I do 50/50 because it doesn’t seem possible to do that. I will have to cut back on all my wants before things turn sour between us due to this financial imbalance. I don’t want money to get in the way of our relationship. I don’t know if anyone feels this guilty for not being able to contribute financially towards their married life. Or am I overthinking all this in my mind. It takes a hit at my self esteem when I see my friends/family around being able to achieve this financial equilibrium with their spouses. It makes me feel inadequate and not as empowered.

Guys - do you think women aren’t as smart/hardworking/motivated OR that the women working around you have been hired for the wrong reasons? Girls - have you experienced sexism at workplace? How do you tell that someone’s behaviour toward you is BECAUSE you’re female?

Men in tech who are already earning high salaries. Have you married women earning well or housewife or earning very less compared to you(maybe in non-tech). Does you spouse who warns help in your day to day expenses or big expenses(trips,car,gifts,etc) or you take care of most of expenses? And non married men with high salary what you prefer. How is life for men with either of these. P.S - This is just to get an idea how life and money comes into picture for a couple, I respect all categories of men and women.
