they have gamified insurance for delivery drivers and they don't provide it if quotas aren't met

We need to have stringent labor laws in India for off-role as well as on-role ppl. We are just paying taxes and not getting aid when it is needed the most.
This is so heartbreaking to say the least. We have no respect for the delivery partners. When will we start respecting the underprivileged and actually treat them as humans rather than pretending it? 💔

A somewhat side tracking rant. India has money control and chandra srikanth who would do story on every bullshit or remotely viral tweet. And often just repeating whatever is the story from other publications. Now swiggy won’t talk to ROW, but they would to chandra. But she is strangely sitting this one out. Fucking patsy for these exploitative tactics.
Not just chandra, but not one of these Indian startup publications who at other times are sucking off to these startups have picked this up. And they call themselves a journalist. When they are a glorified PR.

On one hand, they introduced paw-ternity leave for employees and on the other hand, they are taking away delivery workers' insurance. So disheartening to see them treating people so differently on such matters.
Unpopular opinion: The “privilege” of the privileged class does show up shining bright in the features/marketing/product of the startups of today. People could really go to any extent for fulfilling the OKRs and bumping revenue numbers 📈

That’s quite a narrow overview. There’s no one group of people who are responsible for shipping things. I would like to think PM, developer, designer and even execs all are equal into the game.
It's a bit embarrassing. A lot of guys have raised this internally and they're saying they'll make changes. Let's see.

I totally hate the instant delivery and food delivery crap. Moved to banagalore 6 months back and folks from zomato and swiggy are driving like sky high stoned raccoons. With this dick move things will get crazier

Exactly. This is 💯 percent devilish. First of all they aren't paid a living wage and upon that if their insurance isn't guaranteed, their situation is almost equal to that of slave labour. John Oliver's late night show had a segment on delivery apps. Seems like irrespective of the country, these apps are the same. Leech-like behaviour.
