Rich through SIP in MFs, it's a myth.

Hello good people of grapevine, I have recently started my full-time job as a software engineer, and wanted to start my journey into investing. After doing a bit of research, I feel SIPs in mutual funds is the way to go forward at this point. For now I want to start putting 20k into MF SIPs every month. I took a look at a few MFs which were very high risk but over a period of 3-5 years yielded great returns (50%) as well. While the low to moderate risk MFs yielded low returns (5%). Though the risk is high, but seeing stable returns over a large period of time, how safe is it to invest in very high risk MFs and not incur losses? What would be the best investment options for a Conservative spending style ? Assuming I'm 30 and have a package of 20 LPA. I prefer bulk investments where I don't have to look into the market conditions regularly to update my investments. Any advice will be greatly appreciated ☺️

Every month my salary gets credited I barely spend 20% of it the rest of it is just sitting around in my bank account it's already above 5L. I keep thinking of investing it in stocks/mf but it's a lot of work 😔 What do you guys do with your salary, it would be great if you can share your investment strategy and how do you keep yourself motivated to stick to it

I don’t have much knowledge about investing, for now i have following investments - 10 Lac in FD - 5 Lac in stock where I have bought stocks of well known large cap company without any analysis assuming that it will grow in long term Now I want to get serious about investment and want to do monthly SIP so seeking for suggestion on what I should do SIP ? For now I am thinking to do monthly SIP in Nifty 50 For now I have appetite to invest 25K per month.

I’ll go first. 1. What kind of investor are you? I am an opportunity investor, and I do buy good stocks whenever they are in reasonable valuations. Below are my monthly numbers. 2. Where’s the majority of your investment portfolio ? I have three RE investments and one of them has loan. And I’m planning to buy a property in Goa or HP. 3. What’s your monthly investment breakdown? 1.7L/ Month (approx) 60k - SIP (mutual funds) 60k - stocks (smallcase, us stocks using vested) 30k - as opportunity fund, this is transferred to a different bank account 10-20k - for experimental investments in crypto, nfts, and some trading. This is a new segment and I don’t have much experience in this and that’s why starting small here. 4. Anything else you want to share? I am learning to invest on a daily basis. Reading, videos and podcasts are my sources. Some of my tops picks are Whiteboard finance (Marko), My first Million and Smart Passive Income, finance with Saran, and Akshat Shrivastava.

It's been close to a year since I am earning a salary and this is what I do: 1. Invest a little less than 30% straight into MFs. I have three ongoing SIPs- small cap, flexicap and a Large + Midcap fund. (Planning to increase the amount further into these and not start a new sip) 2. Max out 80C by putting the entire limit in PPF, this is on top of what is by default deposited into EPF. 3. A little (inconsistently) into direct stocks as and when I find or get to know about a decent trade opportunity. 4. An LIC ULIP plan that my father made me subscribe to 🙂 (hopefully will end in a couple more years) Tips from experienced folks will be much appreciated.😄

A monthly SIP of ₹2,500 invested regularly for the next 30 years @ 10% CAGR will accumulate ₹51.98 Lakhs. Total Investment is just ₹9 Lakhs. Start SIP ✅

Hi folks, Personally, I thought I should invest in the index fund. Because, I don't want to take the risk with this amount. But I would still like to know 2 things - 1. Is the index fund fine? 2. Is it the right time to invest in lumpsum Or should I do an SIP of 20k? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance :)

Was analysing my trades over the last 3 years to understand my best and worst trades ever, then coupled that with my "Trade Diary" to see what were the difference of thoughts between both trades. I was levered heavily on these F&O trades by holding a margin position. Made ~73k that day with a Capital at Risk/Trade under 25k at all times. I have since left F&O, I have found better use of my time elsewhere and taxation on F&O income is not worth it anymore to me. What about you all? Any trades/lessons to share for all of us?
