I finally did it

Looking for genuine and non diplomatic answers since it will be anonymous. It is upto you to reveal the name of the company you resigned from. Lets discuss!!! I will go first - I quit my last organisation (a famous UPI company) in 2020 because, they still are in old technology. No cloud computing, no kubernates, no terraform. Their entire baremetal infra are in 2 DCs (Mumbai and Bangalore). Leadership ideas are outdated. I was very much bored and looking for a change.

hooked up with someone from my previous job, now she is my girlfriend and we are going strong 5 years.

I'm typing this out as a way of collecting my thoughts and feeling a bit normal to take myself through the day. Context: I have been working with a small b2b IT firm for the last 1.5 years, and resigned yesterday. This was my first job straight out of MBA and it has sucked the soul out of me to say the least. The notice period is 3 months and I am really unsure how will I survive it considering that I'm already completely drained. I do not want to list out the reasons of how this place has been toxic for me because I also carry a lot of self doubt if it was really the toxicity of the place or my own incapability to handle the work. I do not have any offer in hand, and haven't started a job search either. Just wanted to put this out there to see if people here in the community have been in a similar situation in their professional lives and how did they figure out the uncertainty, was it a good decision for them in retrospect and if they have any tips for me to deal with this better, with less anxiety.

I had a boss who asked a colleague on their notice period to report to work when they were actually sick. 100+ fever on consecutive days. He took him to a client meeting, where he fainted and had to be taken to the hospital. The boss said - "Uski kismat hi kharab hai."

Hello Grapevine fam, I want to share my story and get everyone's suggestions on how to proceed. I have been working with this startup for more than two years. Recently, my manager and HR head called me for a meeting and said I wasn't living up to their expectations and they wanted me to resign. In the same discussion they said, the company would be paying 2 months salary as severance pay and my LWD would be in June since the notice period here is 2 months and this would help me in my job hunt. So having faith in this company, I resigned. Right after that my manager and the HR head is not legally acknowledging the two months of my salary as severance pay. And the very same day, they sent me the experience letter which had the same day as my last working day, despite them mentioning my LWD would be in June. How do I proceed now? I have given my best to the company in the last two years. But things turned out this way, very dejected and disappointed with the startup.

I had been toiling in my current organization for a good while despite the compensation not being totally fair. Whenever I brought this discussion up with the CEO, he always played the friend card and promised to give me what I deserve once the company raises the next round. He also claimed to have supposedly saved me from the layoffs which was completely in his control in the first place. Now I got a better offer, kind of like a dream offer- one that I well deserve, and have convinced a challenging panel to get. One small concern is that during the initial stages of the application, I lied about how much I was getting paid currently. Now that I actually made it and got the offer, I have to submit the documents. How far are these things taken seriously?

I have had over 8-10 managers in my life in a career spanning over 8 years, 5 of them were female managers and unfortunately the experience with 4 of them were very bad. They’re either micro managers, or power hungry, want to be dominant over male juniors, misuse their power, cannot take any kind of resistance or refusals or disagreement from juniors. I have always heard female managers are more empathetic but unfortunately I’ve faced the opposite. Just wondering, was it just bad luck or is it actually the case? I tried to introspect in this and I found at least 4 points common across all these female managers: 1. They are all from Tier 2/3 Cities 2. They’ve studied in premier institutions IIT,IIMS,Wharton even one of them 3. They either have a younger or elder brother who got more love in the family 4. Their husband is at a higher senior level than them in professional life/career

Have you been in such a situation where you joined a 'high growth, super fast' organisation and 1 week into, you know you made a mistake. Thinking you should give the company a chance, it's more than a year and you have not moved. Your mental and physical health have started taking a toll. Has it happened with you? How did you break free?
