I wish life was a little easier and I just need to vent

My mother called me yesterday and tells me she got scammed for about 10 lakhs and needs money by Monday. She has 4 lakhs and I will have to cover the rest. Turns out she let a friend take a loan in her name and this friend gave fake jewellery as collateral. The friend took loans under her husband’s name and my mom’s name, she divorced the dude and escaped. The bank called my mom and has asked her to pay, now they’re filing a case against my mom for fraud. I’ve spent my weekend talking to advocates and friends, and looks like the only way to get out of it unscathed is to cut a deal with the bank saying we’ll pay the money back and they don’t press charges in return. Contesting the bank is going to take time, money and the risk of my mom losing her job. As an older daughter who grew up in a broken family, I’ve spent my childhood and adulthood protecting my mother and sibling. I finally landed a well paying job 2 years ago and now the responsibility extended to providing for my younger sister and my mother financially which I’m more than happy to do. I’ve worked hard the past few months to save what I have right now beyond what I give my family, use to sustain myself and finally felt happy about the position I’m in. Now I’m heartbroken. I’m going to be emptying almost 70% of what I have so far for this for paying the bank and the lawyer. Especially for something that’s not even my mistake and something that could have been easily avoided. I’m not in a place to direct my anger at her, I know it’s a hard time for her as well. 6 to 7 lakhs might sound like a small amount to some but I don’t have the privilege to throw money like that. I don’t have fuck you money. I don’t take money from friends. I’m 25 and literally just started my life 2 years ago after working for peanuts. What’s even the point of working hard, leading an honest life if this is how it works? It’s just truly unfair and I don’t know how to deal with it.

My Experience as Fresher with Workplace Harassment and Forced Resignation at Accenture

I want to share my experience as a fresher at Accenture, my first company from a college placement. The first six months were fine, but then I faced severe mental harassment from my supervisor and manager. She constantly criticized my work and gave negative feedback, causing me immense stress. I often skipped meals and worked weekends to improve, but nothing helped. Despite reporting the issue and requesting a supervisor change or a different track, my requests were ignored. The harassment worsened, affecting my physical health, and I couldn't eat or sleep properly. My manager controlled trivial aspects like where to sit and whom to talk to, making the situation unbearable. I was even forced to switch from a developer role to a tester, despite being trained as a developer. The final straw was being placed on a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) without a clear reason, with the same harassing individuals assessing me. I only had 1.9 years of experience then. I reported the mental harassment to HR and resigned due to deteriorating health, panic attacks, and weight loss. Despite having no other job offer, I couldn't continue. Even during my notice period, I was forced to complete PIP assignments, which led to suicidal thoughts and further health issues. Now, I am jobless, feeling helpless and frustrated. With less than 2 of experience, I struggle to find offers in a down IT market and don't know what to do next.

Update: Firing an employee after maternity

Last month I posted about firing a female employee after maternity that created a debate: https://share.gvine.app/fdu9iQyCrQP6Ehn89 For anyone interested in how things turned out, here it is... TLDR: Employee/new mom filed an FIR, police closed it after she admitted she quit after we tried to put her on a PIP. (In FIR she said she was wrongly terminated) The women's commission of India summoned me after and it was an experience! I got scolded for about 2h by four women... but in the end they just scolded me like angry teachers? I guess they tried to give the lady some satisfaction by humiliating me. Pretty sad if that's all they can do to represent women with genuine cases. Overall the average grapevine user said I was in the wrong for putting a new mom on a PIP, regardless of performance before and after pregnancy. Most critical folks told me I should've informed the employee about performance issues before maternity. Lawyers say I made the right choice and protected the company. It's a bit messed up that laws designed to protect women at work end up making things worse for them. Because of legal fear we went directly to a formal PIP with recorded calls with HR, the direct manager and others refused to do anything without legal advice. But in the end, she filed a case, so perhaps the cold approach recommended by lawyers was sadly correct. Lastly, I finally saw that outside of my own business echo chamber (both men and women business people), society holds pregnant women and new moms valuable above all else. Someone like me who is a bachelor & slave to capitalism has a totally different set of values, as such some people think I'm fair game for insults. But I hope by making products of value I can make a positive impact in my own way. Thanks for providing your perspectives.
