HSBC India shitshow

I have been working in HSBC GSC HYD for more than a year and as this journey comes to an end now, I would like to share my experience with you all. The first thing that comes in our mind while joining any new company is about their workplace environment and their HR policies. There have been quite a few incidents that happened during the last one year which I neglected thinking "Isn't this what corporate life feels like?" I neglected everything to the point where it became unbearable for me and made me go through some serious mental health issues and panic attacks. The most recent incident that I would like to share with you all is when I was ethnically humiliated by one of my colleague. The incident happened on 22 April 2024 when I was subjected to ethnically insensitive remarks by my colleague AA. The exacts words which was used by him is 'EK CHAMAAT MAARENGE, BIHAR PAHUCH JAOGI' which exactly means - I will slap you so hard, you will go back to Bihar. I did follow the protocol and informed my manager AT about the whole incident but nothing came out of it, except for a team meeting where I was told that my colleague did not physically assault me, it was just a hatred comment which I can let go of. I reached out to the concerned HR team and filed a POSH Complaint for the same, after weeks of the incident, on 3 May, I received an email from the HR team to give feedback for the same without any updates on what action was taken. I did let go of everything thinking that anyways I will be leaving the office soon as I am currently in my notice period when another incident happened. I was on a smoke break when VKR, AMO from the UK CDD team approached me and made objectifying remarks on me. The comment he made was 'Tmhare jaisi ladki hum aaj tk ni dekhe hai, akele pura UK team ka naam kharab kr k rkhi hai.' which means - He has never seen a girl like me, I have ruined the name of their team. I did ask him the reason for saying such things to which he replied 'tmhare alawa kisi UK team ki ladki ko hm ni dkhe hai cigarette pite huye' which means - he has never seen any girl from the UK team smoking cigarettes. Later while going back inside the office, I saw him eating tobacco and spitting on the wall inside the office premises. My LWD is 13 June 2024 and I hope this post reaches to everyone who are currently working in HSBC and to the people who are planning on joining HSBC GSC HYD before I leave. I know sometimes we refrain from saying too much about our company. But exes can usually be talked about, since there's not much holding back. Maybe it helps someone else avoid a mistake you did, or gain a new learning :p Shoot.

Now why everyone is talking about benefits of working from office? I saw post from Sunil Shetty on linkedin. My take is, when pandemic hit companies asked employees to WFH to keep wheel rolling. Now we know WFH can give greater control over personal and professional life(at least for me) we don’t want to go back to office. In my opinion corporate want us to work from office cause, - they can control our time, 9hrs in ofc, you are getting paid for time not skills. - they want to show who is the boss here. - Learning is key reason for WFO, bullshit, we have a lot of learning portals and traffic time can be used to learn but it is never a intention. What you guys think?

A lot of you might have seen the HDFC bank video where a senior executive got batshit crazy at his juniors and was yelling at them. This is my story of a a similar experience in a well funded NBFC. Hint: Aye Aye So, i joined this NBFC startup with a cushy package, let's say 35 lpa in 2021, to transform the corporate. Joined in a leadership role but the reality hit too soon. The work environment was too toxic. People didn't know how to behave, the leaders are monsters and there were no weekends for straight 4 months. I started yelling at everyone around me and i was stressed 24/7. One fine day, i went straight with a fuck you and resigned from the job, took a pay cut and rejoined corporate. I joined there from an MNC. Life is smooth now. Remember, if your think Banking sector is bad, NBFCs are worse and the startup players are a notch below. Pay cuts are bad, it took me two years to get back to market. However at all of our lives, it is very important not to promote this shitty culture.

I am on my 3 months notice period, but since the time I put my papers I have been contacted by a senior stakeholder, my previous and current vp suggesting me to stay saying they'll try their best Is it something normal, should I reconsider? The other firm has been waiting since past 2 months Got a hike of 45%, please suggest as confused 2.5 yoe

I thought I was the only one frustrated with meetings until my colleagues also mentioned they were not able to get work done because most of the day was spent on meetings Plus our boss (CEO) loves talking, anyway the meetings are agenda-less. He stretches 30 min calls to 2 hours and then has the audacity to question the productivity. Cannot tell me this, he gets very touchy when feedback is negative for him. And then writes sarcastic messages. Also, who wants to take up fights with person who pays your salary What to do in this case? I'm tired of working 12 hours each day
