MSFT India to MSFT US

I'm currently working as a software engineer in India, with TC 45LPA and 2 years of experience. I'm thinking about applying for a Master's in CS in the USA for fall 2024. But I'm not sure if I want to settle there or not currently. Should I make the move considering things are going well in India? Getting a job directly in the US seems close to impossible. Any advice? Hi Grapevine, Just curious to know your thoughts of going to the US/EU as an SDE during the early age of your career. Maybe not now but within 1 year. Pure motivation is money and will definitely come back to India in a couple of years . TC - 18 lpa YOE - 1.7

I am looking for companies which can potentially sponsor US relocation from India (or through Europe maybe?). Tbh, I had joined Uber in the hope that I would get a transfer but I don't see that happening now given the company dynamics has changed. So, I am looking for a switch asap. Have seen people taking transfers through Rubrik. Is it still the case? What about other mid to large size companies? Or Any startup? TC: 60L Role: SWE 2 YOE: ~2 years

Confused if i should go for MS CS from USA or stay in India, how would you decide? I have almost 5 years of experience as a software engineer in India. Its been a long time now, that i am confused if i should go to US for MS considering i will have to take up a loan of 50 lakhs. Also the layoffs are here, probably scenario will be good once the MS is over (May ‘24) , and i might be able to repay the loan. It seems like a huge step and a risky one. My motivation for US are 1. Foreign Exposure and Experience 2. Bank Balance for better retirement in India As IT is uncertain and we never know what might happen in future. What are your thoughts on this, what factors should i consider?

I'm saying this because Microsoft has posted more than 240 software engineering jobs in India in just the last month, bringing the total to 547 software engineering jobs in India alone. However, despite this large number of job postings, I haven't seen a single new employee announcement on LinkedIn for any of these positions. Does nobody want to join Microsoft, or what?

I’m a SDE with 2 yoe. I work at a top place in India and am quite well satisfied with my work (compensation & learning wise both). I see a lot of my friends now starting to move abroad for their MS. I know the drill in general, that MS in CS is just a 1 crore rupee entry ticket people pay to get access to the US job market (of course there is learning involved, but MS in CS isnt really a research course). I can see that most people who do this do it because they’re unable to find a top job here or are dissatisfied. At times I feel, will I miss out if I don’t abroad at the right time? Then sometimes when logic prevails, I realise I gain very little by going abroad (maybe a lifestyle increase due to being in a first world). My question to you all : Would you be willing to move abroad even if you got/have a top job here in India?

I have a Microsoft Noida SDE 1 (L60) offer letter with base 21l + 2l variable + 48k stocks and a JP Morgan SDE 2 offer letter with base 21l + 2l variable. I have 3.3 years of experience as a backend Java developer. In Microsoft, I interviewed for L61, but they gave me L60. What should I do?

So a friends wife is considering an offer with Microsoft as Senior product manager - potentially at level 62/63 Relevant exp - 8 years Overall exp - 11 years - What would be the comp range for this? With what % variable? - Are there anything in components to salary that someone should be aware of? - When they say upto 100% remote, what is the reality like? - does pedigree matter and to what level - for context she is Mba + MTech+ BTech -any indication on esop rsu range? -anything else you want call out

I want to understand how much the salary Software Engineer can go up to? Bit background about me: - I have been coding since school time, (we had Java in the ICSE board), and have built multiple websites, apps, games, so had good experience before my first job. - 2021 graduate and worked remotely for an early stage startup, started with 20 lpa, and got excellent experience and learning. - This year, I switched to another remote company, with the role of SWE-2 and 42 lpa. I have heard that salaries as Software Engineers start to plateau after a while. So by the time I have 10 YOE, and a Staff Software Engineer, maybe I can expect to reach ~1 Cr. But at 20 YOE i.e double experience of 10 YOE, my salary would only grow about 50% like to ~1.5 Cr? Am I understanding this correctly? I have heard people say that one only gets better increment rates as once moves into management. I want to understand how much is that? And at what age am I too old to be hired as a Software Engineer?? Need more insights to understand this better.
