So, the way staffing works is, you are mapped to projects and projects usually last for a few months.  
  
 Utilisation is the percentage of time you are billable.

I am on bench and so are many people. I am worried that if my utilisation bad for this year then I can easily be laid off.  Is this true for other big 4s?

I am an entry level analyst in at Deloitte. Just wondering if these are some signs of a practice not doing great + potential layoffs in a few months/year.

1. Utilization: ~45% last quarter. They originally said that it was a slow start to the year with low CapEx by companies but we still don't look good this quarter now.

There was a small call last night between a few people in this project level meeting and the senior management straight up said "Their is no demand and people are still on bench. We need to reallocate some headcount"

2. Headcount growth - Last 1.5 years ago, every month we had 10-15 people join our practice, This has literally gone down to 1-2 hires to replace people who have left.

3. Resignations: 6-7 people are leaving every month in my practice, which is quite harsh. Someone told me that everyone they used to work with when they joined have already left.

4. AI-pocalypse - I feel most companies think that they can now do AI inhouse and niche projects but higher costs because of MS/PhD folks working on it is something they dont want to go for anymore.

If a layoff is incoming, what would be the best ways to prep?

I see two options:
1. Getting on a boring sad project but long term.
2. Do nothing: I am literally the cheapest resource in the company so they would ideally layoff senior folks first, right??

Hi , this post is intended to be a disclaimer to anyone who is planning to join Yubi. A lot of things are happening here that show some signs of an impending layoff

1) Several senior folks in tech and product have quit. Also there is no replacement hiring planned for them. Several projects are also getting shelved as a result.

2) there were several open roles a few weeks back and almost all of them are on hold as of now across all depts( tech , business , ops)

3) rampant cost cutting. The lunch options have been reduced to just 1 dal , 1 veg , rice and chapati.  Snacks have been removed too.


Because of several folks quitting in less than 6 months and no replacement hiring , load has increased tremendously on existing members who are themselves trying to leave. 

People have serious doubts on whether any hike or bonus will be given or not this year.

Rampant negativity at Yubi

I just cant handle the pressure and the stress in this role. I am working so hard that I have ZERO work life balance.  The entire day just goes in meetings and meetings.  I think that I don't know anything and am extremely worried about my future. 

The work pressure is a lot here, deadlines are too tight and I have been vomiting from stress at night.
The worst part is, Deloitte never pays for over time.

Anyone else feeling this in other Big4s? I want to switch ASAP or I will die here.

Heard from people I know at Bain that they are laying off.
This is mostly the first time an MBB is doing layoffs (earlier they would silently fire, or delay onboarding) 

A friend got impacted. Seems like this could be 10-15% of their consultants. Unprecedented.

I was laid off from big4 with stupid reason is that When I started my carrier I worked in startup in 2015 company now the company is redlisted 2024. 

With this reson there are saying your company is block listed. The main reason is there need to pay variable pay and 23-24 hike to escape. there are using many tricks to layoff the ppl without notice.
