India is not safe country when it comes to sexual crimes. For all genders. Period.

These cases get highlighted because they are murdered. India lodged average 86 rapes daily, 49 offences against women per hour in 2021: NCRB data. And these are just registered ones. An estimated 60-70% rapes are not reported, due to shame and marriage of the women. I pulled up a report of US Dept of Justice which said - According to survey estimates, 111,298 rapes were committed against men in the previous 12 months. What about the rapes reported for men in India? Couldn't find even one report/article which talks about it. Women reporting such crimes receive a lot of backlash. Imagine stuff men who face this, go through. Men raping men is often made fun of, or called names. Women raping men (that is a thing I came to know recently), they are asked to "enjoy". What?! Sexual contact without consent is rape. Irrespective of age, gender, intention, marital status. And should be punished equally.
