Things aren’t good at Nykaa

I left the product design team of Nykaa a few days back & I foresee things going from bad to nasty. My x colleagues are telling me how a large bunch of folks are put on PIP deliberately. Almost all of them have gotten no or single digit appraisal. Just this week they are now forcing even the Tech. Employees to work from office for 5 days a week, this will ensure that a lot of people will eventually leave the company. The new CTO is just trying to bring the amazon work culture, don’t be surprised to hear some bad news about Nykaa in coming days. The fashion business is itself struggling to make business, Superstore might not make any profits anytime soon.

Inflated profits before IPO and The promoter made tonns of money by offloading the shares at skyrocketing premium. Now the business is back to square one with abysmal PAT and the firing is inevitable.

They are very image specific , so silent layoffs are going to happen. They know very well that they have a good name in the industry so they can afford to hire employees at dirt cheap price. That’s what they are going to become. A dirt cheap labour company

Their business will be easily challenged once Reliance’s beauty platform TIRA beauty start functioning at high discounted prices. Their fashion business is already suffering with “too costly “ tag among women buyers ultimately hindering them from competing with Myntra. If their backbone beauty business suffers losses then they will first stop fashion and superstore businesses. That’s why they are now focusing on cost cutting.

Another layoff at the most overvalued unicorn startup.

First round happened in March. 130-140 engg. Around 40 engg were fired. Then some silent layoffs happened in different teams like hr. Then Few good enggs left the company. This week another round happened with around 20-25 enggs

Bloodbath begins in India the real recession

The world economy as we know is stabilizing but its just the US economy that is stabilizing there is a real cash crunch happening at most startups and its effect have started from the last week One of the companies in which my friend is working Spyne.ai layed off closed to 20-30 folks across various departments tech, marketing, sales , product, hr and ai their total workforce is around 80 employees Insider news also states they even fired their chief of product, and its becoming tough to sustain, they even gave esops to employees on a valuation they havent achieved yet during appraisal season It was a forced resignation, 2 3 folks were even said leave we wont be giving you any severance. Yesterday even recieved news off layoffs inside TCS(US), myntra and navi Even hearing news from zs and paytm that they might start a fresh round of layoffs

Indian unicorn companies these days are doing forced PIPs to remove folks who are a high salary as per last year or have conflicts and all. Employee benefits being reduced left right and center. Environment has become toxic. This is being done for IPO. Watch out guys.

In dillema please help.

Hello guys I recently joined nykaa and within first week they have assigned lot of issues to me. Without giving Time to onboard. And it's 5 days office. Now I got another offer from one startup phyllo. And it's complete remote and giving better package than nykaa. Should I consider leaving nykaa and join that? Here in nykaa we have to take permission from manager to take wfh also.
