We forgo all fun activities and prepare for JEE for 2 years. If you are a general category student a single wrong answer will spoil uour admission chnaces. So hell yeah.. IIT deserves it. Consider thia high payment as a reward for forgoing the most important parts of our life and spending hrs inside a room mugging concepts and formulas... in my opinion 15lpa is degarding.. it should start at 30lpa base pay
Sure you can get an easier/preferred chance in your initial role. But after 2-3 years of experience, the proof of work should be given preference.
And kudos to you folks for putting it all in for the prep, but closing the gates just because you aren't "pedigree" that's off.

Dummy, Everyone knows that an industrial engineer from IIT is better than a computer engineer from tier 1 or 2 college
Jokes apart, how the backend engineer salary is so less compared to flutter developer salary?
Ideally, the pay should be equal. If anything, it would be less surprising, if it would have been other way round.
I guess because that role doesn't require you to be an IITian. It's for bottom tier garbage like us.

Although this is irrelevant, these founders don't have any creativity to come up with a good name for their startup.
Like, people who work here are going to say, ' I am building maalish'. I know they purposely choose an Indian name to create familiarity, but they still can do better.
Guys this equation is simple
Cost of a wrong hire > benefit from a right hire ( a wrong hire would take salaries, wonât work, even more impact culture and other employeeâs morale, to replace such talent you again need to hire (both cost and effort)
Hence firms try to limit the loss
How do they do it
1. They know Indian job market is big and confusing (1000s of candidates with fake, wrong work ex, people with short term goals e.g get brand in resume and look out again, seek counter offers)
2, there is no strong predictor of future performance
3. IIT / IIM / ISB / BITS have generally worked well for firms, folks are hardworking, have strong network, and are bright
4. Though tier 2 can be cheaper and better source of talent, the search cost to get those top 5-10% is really high. HRs donât know is a student from tier 2+ is actually successful or faking ?
Basis this the viscous circle for tier 1 specific jobs have increasd & will increase as more firms offshore jobs + for startups it gives strong message to investors (that you donât compromise on talent)

Saw this listing too, this looked very fishy. Their website is a blank page, can't find the founder on LinkedIn. No employees on LinkedIn. My best guess was that it looked like a data stealing scheme.
Damn, looks like that backend engineer job is seriously underpaid. I truly hate shitty startups that exploit us wage slaves.
