A lot of FAANG engineers report that the interview was the hardest thing that they've done, harder than anything they do as part of their actual job

The number of influencers trying to sell their courses on coding and systems design has just went nuts. Anyone and everyone who is working in FAANG / MAANG/ WTFAANG seems to be selling dreams to everyone that this is how you get into and sustain into large scale companies. Once these engineers join after clearing interviews (which are more or less a repeat of the same questions being asked for a thousand times), they find it hard to scale themselves to solve the real world challenges that are thrown at them. And then the complaining starts from all the angles. For the sake of it, FAANG and all other such top tier companies are not gonna help you once your mental peace if completely f…ed up. If you think you are genuinely interested in solving issues at scale, spend some real time learning the basics, how the day to day software you use works, spend some time actually researching and banging your head trying to grasp how things are, because most of the challenging issues you are gonna face in your upcoming career won’t have youtube videos available to explain you why they happen. Stop filling the pockets of influencers to teach you things which you should be putting efforts to learn by exploring yourself. Rant over

Recruiter reached out to me and have the screening round coming up. I read that the interview process at Stripe is unique and there are rounds for fixing bugs, doing integration, etc. Can anyone shed some more light on this and how to prep?

Why do you want to work at FAANG? or Why do you not want to work at FAANG?

Indian SDEs on LinkedIn & Twitter are some of the worst engineers you will ever find across the real world. Their typical value lies around: - Cracking a FAANG/MAANG or Product company. - Make an announcement on LinkedIn & Twitter and accumulating followers. - Starting YouTube channel, Topmate links, affiliate marketing channels, and more. - Rant DSA, System Design, Interview resources all day long. - Post daily of their office, their colleagues, candid shots, and barely getting any work done. While this is expected out of early career professionals, it pains to see senior SDEs doing the same shit over and over again. Things don't end here — Everyone talks about creating a revolution. And the revolution is teaching DSA. If you are an experienced SDE and still ranting DSA, it just means that you have barely learnt anything that is of worth any value. You are atmost a "Ticket Engineer". You get assigned a Jira ticket, you bust your ass solving it, and that's it. That's your entire value. Its high time that these "Bhaiya", "Didis", "Bhabhis" stop ranting DSA and System Design over and over, and build something of real value. You would barely see any credible open-source projects coming out of India (but hey, we have some many contributors!), barely any Indie dev project, or anything that captures the attention of the world. Literally every popular SDE you might follow or see over your social media is the same. Their entire community game is a farce and designed to capture gullible college students and shill thousands of rupees out of them. You might be featured on Times Square ($40 ka showoff), but no one would remember you for anything that you built. <Rant Over. Peace>

Given the case that a fresher has to fix bugs when he joins a company would he/she be recruited based on the basis of algorithms and DS and no practical applications and creative thinking ? For startups I very well know that they prefer skillset over DSA and CP, but why aren't MNCs starting to slowly adopt the same as well

I am good at DSA and in HLD. I feel pretty confident that I will be able to crack the interview once I get a chance. I have 2 yoe in total in 3 product based startups. Graduated Bsc cs from a tier 1 college. For folks who manage to get at interview there, what thing help you the most?

Swiggy has become a toxic Ex for me now and there is no time to think about it at this point (for me atleast) I need to get back on my feet soon (sole earner in my family) and need some help. It has been a really long time since I prepared and stepped out there, so need some help in knowing what's going on out there. It would be great if someone can help with these: 1. Any interview resources I can start with 2. What all things I need/should prepare for 3. Any tips and tricks for the interview preparation I think it will be a lot of help for me and others too who are in the same boat. I was an SDE2 here and thinking of stepping up to SDE3 as well but right now even an SDE2 role would suffice. So will prepare accordingly
