I was watching Tarla the other day (ah don't roll your eyes yet)
She started with cooking classes, then published books, then a TV show
A growth graph in life (sure, it is not exponential, but still upwards)

What are we doing in life?
One job to another, getting hikes, and repeating the same again.
Each company looks fab on social media, but is the same stinking shithole from inside.

Where am I going?
What's more to life now?
Every day is almost the same, except for some occasional bumps or problems which we solve in a week/month.

- "We will get back to you" over and over again 
- 2YOE getting 95LPA
- Mom forwarding her friends' married kids pictures (dropping subtle hints)
- Attracting red flags, where efforts have dried up 
- Movies and shows watchlist growing, but guilt makes us think we are better off working
- Travel bucket is overflowing
- Personal projects have sided in a corner, because that ain’t getting anything
- Age is catching up and money is not 

How do you handle all this?! How!

What is life according to you

I noticed a pattern in myself. I chase a goal, I achieve it, be elated about achieving that goal for a few hours (A few days at best, if it's some really really great achievement), and everything feels the same again
I'm off thinking about the next thing. Once I've got it, my mind just goes "this wasn't such a big deal". I got a pretty nice rank in NEET UG and also cracked the internship at Microsoft. I have won hackathons. I have overcome my shyness about talking to strangers. I have a lot of things to be proud of. I came really close to killing myself but have managed to live on, and this is my greatest achievement by far. I just wish I could be happy.

If you ask me, the purpose of life has to be more than climbing a self-constructed ladder. 

Like, it has to be more than a 3BHK in a metro, with two kids, a car and a prestigious job at a faceless corporation, 2 weeks of vacation and a movie on the weekend.

Isn’t this weird that, we all continue to fool ourselves? 

When you know nothing matters the universe is yours, and I've never met a universe that was into it. The universe is an animal, it grazes on the ordinary. It creates infinite idiots just to eat them. 

You know? Smart people get a chance to climb on top and take reality for a ride but it'll never stop trying to throw you. And eventually it will, there's no other way off

[Thread] What is according to you makes life worth living?

Remember when you were a kid and had a school trip the next day?    
    
 You sleep all excited, over preparing your bag, snacks, your pocket money and sleep fantasizing the day forward.   
    
 You wake up on the morning. You are excited as hell. Although it's no different than any other day but everything feels colorful. You can't wait to hop into your school bus and meet your friends who are just as excited as you.   
    
 I think what makes life is worth living are these experiences. When you sleep, you have something to look forward to. Someone to do, something to achieve, something you truly enjoy or be passionate about.   
    
 If you are just going through days fixated on the coming weekend or planned holiday. That is when things get a little messy.   
    
 I'm in that zone right now. I try to seek the satisfaction and happiness inside of me. So I don't depend on materialistic or emotional to feel lively. It must come from within and its damn hard to cultivate.   
    
 When I'll have that I'll be off from this corporate for good. .

Was thinking about our lives. Ever since you are in school, you have something to look forward to. When you’re in 1st grade, you know next year it’s 2nd grade and so on till you finish your undergrad.

Suddenly, you could be everything or nothing at the same time.

Those who are good at this game of eternal growth end up grinding their lives away in the PCM -> Engg -> B-School -> Consulting hell loop.

Weirdly, the determinism in growth fades away suddenly and you see people finally pursuing diverse fields.

Then, the realisation kicks in. You’ve been conditioned to chase eternal growth. That is what brings meaning to you in every part of your life. Today has to be better than your yesterday, or else it feels like you’ve failed.

I wonder how sustainable that is but till then we will continue to throw our youth away. 

My 2 cents: You have a brief moment in history. Don’t spend your 10 years of prime in doing things that don’t bring you any joy. Don’t make the same mistakes all of us make chasing joys because others are chasing them.

Find your own meaning to this eternal growth.

Is life a race for eternal growth?

Why is life boring? Eat sleep work repeat. Then die someday. How to live life wonderfully?

Context: Hated my life in my previous job, work wise it was not bad.
Now, I don't hate my life as much, but work wise, it's really not good. 
Wayyy too operational, pressuring and salesy. I chose this, but I thought I would've been given some more time to mentally prepare myself, which didn't happen. 

Here's the kicker: the company is great, pay is also not bad. Not sure what I'll do if I'm not here and it was tough getting here. Recruiting hell leeches on me.

What can I do now? Any advice?

I am 28F working with an MNC. Ive realised that existence is pain and there is not much to be alive for because everything is temporary- all the beautiful places, moments, and people. 

I am just a breathing body with lots of love in her heart for the world, but no emotional energy left to share because I feel that everything is fake and everyone is a hypocrite.

It is fun sometimes but I feel that's 20% off it. There are 99 reasons wherein you feel like giving up daily but somehow you stick along & keep going. The stories we read online or anywhere else of riches are quite few but you feel a complete let down wherein somebody made insane money in 3 years & you are struggling for 5 years+ making some money but not what you imagined.

I run a profitable bootstrapped business for 5+ years & some days are hard coz everybody is hopping on new tech (eg: Crypto, AI) & you might be doing the same old stuff & don't know how to pick yourselves up to learn something new. People are getting funded & making insane money in secondaries, etc. 

Then dealing with bullshit on the internet. Everyone on LinkedIn is successful, putting numbers & gyaan. Some days are overwhelming & you feel being super rich comes with a lot of factors in your favor & tradeoffs as well. Bas, tumhara number aaya nahi hai ya shayad hi aayega. Rant over.

I’ve friends who run venture backed startups. And I’ve heard something similar. More power to all the founders who’re trying make a dent someway or the other.

So I am working at a startup for around a year now. Everyday I see, it feels, what am I really doing? Where is the life headed? 
    Doing bare minimum or doing your tasks and fucking off isn't enough. It's expected that we outgrow constantly, as if it's this work that we can always think about and nothing else. At the end, am wondering if it's still worth it?
    1 day it feels that let's just quit it! Next day I feel, okay, I do want the money. 

I ain't looking for suggestions here, just wanted to see if anyone else felt this way

Not every time your life is according to what you think it'll be. There were times when everything was good, you can say I was walking uphill but now everything seems cracking down. Why can't life be just plain ?

What's a sad truth you've come to accept?

I know most of us don't have a choice as we need to earn to make our livelihood, but what keeps you going day in and day out? Or do you just wait for the weekends. I think very few people get to do what they love doing. So how do you get through the week ? What do you tell yourself ?

How do you guys get through workdays ?

Not sure how to say this, but I feel lonely or empty and have been feeling this for a long time now. may be more than a year.

Life used to be fun when I was in school or college, can't pinpoint what it was that made it good. but now since I entered corporate world life seems monotonous.

I have a stable job, good salary, and a comfortable life, but I still feel empty. There is nothing to be excited about or look forward to anymore. Everyday is the same as yesterday was. same work, same people.

It is not like I don't try to have fun, I go out for movies, travel once a month. But all those seem short term solutions for this issue. 

I thought maybe companionship is what I need. So I tried dating apps. I got good number of matches, but for one reason or another, things never led to meetings these girls in real life.
 
Have you ever experienced this at some point in life? would love to hear what you did to overcome such feelings.
