I have recently joined a new company and a lot of people (mostly people I don't know) are reaching out for referrals. I know the time is tough.
How do you all decide whom to refer? Friends and people you know are definitely there. You can't be referring everyone as it decreases your credibility if they are not suitable for the role or don't get hired.
Also, how do you say no to such requests?

I am a software associate from capgemini. I was working on infrastructure and operation management project from last 2 years. But, now I feel that 3 LPA salary is not at all possible to survive in Bangalore or anywhere. I tried to talk to my manager but he talked to me in so rude way about my appraisal way that the project budget is too low. I had a discussion for role change with manager but forcing to work here for 1year and they will release me. I couldn't cope up with this environment and hating to go to work everyday. Decided to resign. Can I get any referrals. I have overall 3 years experience in IT industry in which 2 years as a Data engineer. I am interested in Data engineer or Data analyst role. Currently I am trying to switch from service based company to better environment hopefully product based companies. Thing here is I am not getting any interview calls (I may blame 90days notice) but how product based companies hire… like i am checking naukari. It’s full of consulting companies mostly or service based companies. LinkedIn I could see some job posts but not actually hearing back  from them(maybe skill issue) . So like from where these product companies hire ??? Anyone know any leads.

Where to get referrals or interview calls

So, I just came across an opening that I find myself a great fit w.r.t. the JD provided. But it's the weekend now. And I'm not sure if I should wait till Monday for me to DM the recruiter/senior dev working at that company asking for referral. On the other hand, waiting 2 more days might backfire on me as in the past where I had waited, the opening would get closed or removed on a Sunday night and I ended up not applying and losing out on the opportunity. What do you suggest ?

I mean its so hard to get a referral or is it just me? Basically,

1. Everyone on linkden is basically an influencer, though with a legit experience and ofcourse technical skills, its more like everyone is just there to flaunt and I practically see no one actually being helped or helping.

2. Only on a personal level, I guess having met them, do people take you seriously, that still is a low probability.

So my question is, if you were an average Joe in this job market, how would you approach people to have them actually land an interview let alone be selected?

Where do you guys get referrals from?

Here in the grapevine app itself i got several referrals. All the interviews I am attending now are firm referrals. Whether I clear the interview or not is second. But I could see many folks coming up to help by giving referrals. If we get selected its win-win situation we get the job and they get money too.

A friend has a kickass resume (according to me) for a very niche business role that just opened up at Google. But he has no experience in applying for big companies. 

We’ve been reviewing his resume together and honestly, all the feedback I have is from what I have read online. He seems to be sure that he’ll be able to nail the interviews but that’s honestly not a problem for later imo. 

He has a referral and wants to make sure he gives his best shot. For those who got interview calls or work there right now, what do you think worked for you?
