CGPA and Hiring

What weightage is given to your cgpa during recruitment and if someone has less CGPA, how can he cover it

It is usually the first filtering criteria in placements. However, I don't think it matters after a shortlist.
In the interview, you should have a proper justification for that. e.g. Holding position of responsibilities, focusing on on building something of your own, etc.

I want to know on what basis are you guys shorting your candidates for college summer interns, because I see the most random person getting selected and leaving out the good ones Also it's a no hope game for me, mine cgpa is less than 7
