I had joined a company two months back and now another company has come back with the offer which is higher than current company, but I don't want to leave current company as culture and work is good, any chance that I could ask for compensation revision now by showing them the new offer?

What would you suggest someone who has been laid off on how to navigate career trajectories given the uncertainities ahead. Many folks would have planned their career paths but due to the change in situations all of this has gone for a toss. 

Should people settle for lower pays or lower designations? How does it impact the trajectory ahead

Software Developer

I recently got a job offer at a well-funded remote startup headquartered in the US as a DevOps engineer. They adjust the salary package to account for the country so I won't be earning in crores... but I wanted to ask people who are in remote positions as to how to negotiate a salary that will be rigid more or less,no options are there to negotiate till a super high margin (maybe 10% max).

For example, they are offering 33 LPA currently, does that put me in a higher tax bracket and can I negotiate for a lower compensation so that I can be put in a lower tax bracket, say I ask for 29 LPA and ask for a joining bonus (or HRA) or some restructuring to do that? 

I don't understand how taxes work in India especially with remote payments but I'm hoping someone can offer the right guidance and resources so that I can look into this in depth later on as well. This is my first ever job and I got it straight out of college, so I do not mind even if they are paying me less than their US counterparts. This salary is more than enough to survive in a tier 2 city (will be shifting back to live with my parents).

I don't have much investments right nos, just a couple of FDs and some equity + debt funds along with stocks (mostly banks + chemical companies here and there). I can look into ELSS funds and what not if that can save up some taxes. I am considering talking to a CA about this too.

(Note: not comfortable with naming it even if this is an anonymous platform because it has like a strength of 50 and I feel it is irrelevant to the discussion).

I didn't get a hike and they even decreased the basic pay in their shared CTC Structure. The in-hand is the same as my previous company but my basic salary is impacted. I have 8 years of IT experience out of which , 2.5 in azure. I got a call from Capegemni HR , saying there's an azure opening, asked for my current and expected CTC. I said the current is 7 LPA and expected is 20 LPA. It's a hybrid role with 3 days working from the office. She said it is not possible, Max they can give is 10-13. I am in Kerala,and have a baby under 1. I have to relocate if I get it. I don't think it is fair salary.

Is it ok if we don't tell when they're asking for our current salary based on which they will give max 100% if we perform exceptionally in the interview.

Or how can I deal this?

When should one communicate to HR about receiving only half their salary due to market conditions in their current company during salary negotiations?

I have 2 options, either to take a 40% pay cut or leave the company (get laid off), what should I do? Would taking that high pay cut will lead to negative impact for my next employer?

Heard of some layoffs happening in the OCI division. None reported so far has anything to do with performance, but rather a reduction in force.

Any clue of more coming in the near future?

2. High TC — if you are in the same level for a long time (> 3 years) and your TC is reaching the top of that band.

3. High initial stock grant (possible by great offer negotiation skills) and you are approximately in the  2nd or 3rd year (when you got the most pay)

4. those who get retention offer in the past and your TC is L + 1 but not performing at L+1. Time to cut the cost.

5. Coasters: if your manager carefully Evalates your criticality and concluded you are easily replaceable

6. People who consistently complaining their teams are too busy too much pressure too bad WLB are in danger too.

How to minimize your chance of being laid off

1. Tell your manager you don’t need any tc increase，or tc is not your career goal

2 tell your manager you are willing to work hard and have no complaints. If you took 2 ppl work, no one will choose to let you go!

1. a lot of companies are hiring through crewscale, etc. they are offering low salary as per the role. are companies paying low salary to them or they are taking a big cut? do people treat them differently once they join a company via crewscale?

2. I am not able to get my resume shortlist for mncs. 

what to do now? recently my friend got a call from razorpay gehy were offering for sde role 15 lakh for 2 years experienced. they were paying 22 lakh for sde 1 last year. the role is not product engg or solution ennggg that they recently introduced for low salary. it was sde role.

I interviewed for data engineer at Amazon in feb. I was told that my profile has been put on hold because so meone else has been chosen internally. Now recruiter comes up with BI engineer role. Got selected. I didn't say anything because I just wanted to get out of TCS at all costs. Now she's demanding that I must join them on 22 april, which is less than 2 weeks away. Hi all, 

I received an offer from a company and signed an offer letter which stated that I have to pay them waiting period money if I'm not joining them. Now I've got a better offer from another organisation. Will there be any legal repercussions if I don't join them. I feel bad they have actually waited for me for 3 months but the company is very small and scared of job security. What can I do in this situation.

I'm SDE from a tier 2 college, have about 20 mos of backend exp, I have offers from two companies - Company A, which is a Saas startup based out of Pune is offering 11 LPA and company B, a fintech startup based out of Bangalore, which is offering 14 LPA. But company A is offering all cash and Company B is offering Cash plus performance based bonus of 5 lacs.

My elder brother who used to work in strategy got laid off in July. He had a fixed pay of 35 and total CTC of 42. ( 2 lakh annual esops, 5 lakh variable). He has a pretty good runway and not worried about the finances since currently at home and no rent/ other metro city expenses. He has been working as an external consultant since December and making 3 lakh per month as fees.

Yesterday he received an full time offer from a startup with Fixed pay 32, 1 lakh retention, 1 lakh performance bonus and 4 lakh annual esops at the last valuation.

The startup is yet to raise series B but the role he is getting is a strategy and ops planning role along with PnL responsibility in 3-6 months.

HR told him that the salary would get revised once they recieve series B but he knows that stuff is usually just lip service. Glassdoor reviews also show that the workload will be high and might have to work on public holidays as well.

Would you advice to take this?
