Can an employee be promoted to co-founder?
Elevated to co-founder means? For a co-founder, you have to be a "co-founder", right. How can someone be elevated to co-founder after working as an employee in an org?

So, companies are fluid entities, right? As employees spend a lot of time (decade++) in senior leadership in a company, they help the shape the present of the company.
They might not have founded the company back in the day, but they did shape the current state as it stands today.
Elevation to co-founder is just an acknowledgement of that.
Company might be fluid but language is not that fluid๐

Working at a super early stage startup takes a disproportionate amount of risk.
Many offer good equity terms but less than market salaries at that stage.
The elevated designation was perhaps an acknowledgement of the same along with the impact the person had over a decade.
