Content overload ๐Ÿงพ - Do you also save links in bookmarks to never read them?

This has been happening for quite sometime - I have posts/reels ๐Ÿงพ on LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, Chrome bookmarks ๐Ÿ“Œ with the hope of going thru them sometime. However, next day new content comes, save them again, and never open them. The cycle repeats ๐Ÿ”ƒ.

Does this happen to many?? ๐Ÿค” Has anyone found a solution to this? ๐Ÿค”

Failing in doing this for over a decade now and now it's gotten even harder

True ... i am also curious if there is a simple technical solution to this

One way is to schedule time to read but that is never enough to clear backlog. Also very difficult to find relevant links in times of need

Try my simple solution. Not saving bookmarks at all.

If it's really a useful resource, you'll put it to use right away. If it's not, no point saving it. Plus you can always search for it later if you need it.

Better to have multiple open tabs instead of bookmarks, but they need to be cleaned up once a week too if you start going above 10-15.

After struggling with this for a while, I've come to realize that maybe there isn't a definitive solution to this problem, and you know what? That's okay. It's fine for it to be that way.

See, the thing about the internet is that it's constantly evolving and churning out new content faster than we can consume it.

Try alternatives Instapaper and others I mean the point is not to look everywhere when you want to read or feel like reading The more collated the list the better

Yes I do this. So what I do is bookmark any post I like 5 days, and on Saturdays and Sundays I go back and view them.

Read the ones I think are worth reading and leave the rest.

Exactly last week, I was going through saved posts of Instagram and realised I've been saving many since 2017.

Cleared for a year or two's saved posts, went to bed tired.

While clearing, I noted down only important ones and unsaved after filtration

Bookmarking posts are similar to paying yearly premiums for health insurance, you may need it sometime in future who knows

GroovyMuffin
GroovyMuffin

yeah, we save it to refer it in future or read when you have time problem is you never find time or it becomes impossible to find relevant link when needed ๐Ÿ˜”

My thesis project was exactly about this problem. I was a design student so unfortunately itโ€™s just a concept, not even a working prototype. :(

If anyone here has great attention to detail and can execute anything, let me know. We can work on it together.

Not saving is one option but if we start consuming every single content at the same moment, it would be disastrous as it would detail me from current work

How do you retain useful content?

Hii, recently I have been procrastinating a lot while trying to educate myself about personal finance and other personal growth related content.

After a bit of introspection I came to a few conclusions on why I am procrastinating.

This is worse addiction than smoking, drinking.

Haven't watched any short/reels for 5 days straight feeling like a void inside.

But its better, Watching reels/shorts would give a feeling of satisfaction because of the dopamine re...

Exactly the reason I deactivated Instagram. It's been a year now. Don't even feel the need to ever go back.
