Whenever you're in the spiral of social media ask yourself what work you're actually trying to avoid, or what thoughts are you trying to not think about. Keep your phone away, maybe have a notebook or a journal and slice up blocks of time and then break down whatever you need to finish in that time window. What you need to do is break out of the negative spiral and try to build momentum for a positive one.
Adjust your time blocks according to your needs, if you need 30 minutes or an hour here or there it's okay.
Try to avoid apps that do this, try to get more analog solutions like pen and paper or whiteboard.
