Dealing with short attention span

Recently read about something called short attention span and was taken aback by the very evident thing present in my habits and day in day out task that I carried out. Started observing in much more detail about how this is really affecting me and results are not really good. This is probably the root cause of all my unproductiveness. Feels like toddler now. Observations

  1. mobile is directly or indirectly the reason behind this (Started reading books in order to overcome).
  2. Trying to do multiple things at once eventually leading to doing nothing. You all get the gist. This is nothing strange. So wise people of grapevine how do you overcome this and also how do you reduce your screen time.

  1. Turn off notifications for random apps
  2. Follow a set routine

Start writing journal and meditating if possible.

Start sitting w yourself for atleast 30 minutes a day without any technology < this will bore you in the start but after a certain point conc. Pro max >

this turn of notification for random apps works but not so if that app is social media app or something that really stimulate you. After turning this off the urge to open app only increases. There are only two possible outcomes to this - either you check app really frequently or either you completely cut off yourself which in some case is not desired given I can have lets say important messages which I really don't want to miss out on. This is really two edge sword practically speaking. The amount of dependency we have on our mobile devices is immense. I have tried this one.

Agreed.
Notifications are off for almost all apps. I'm clocking 1hr+ for Instagram but don't remember opening Telegram for weeks.

Getting out off shorts/reels helps a lot. Then gradually, limit social media as well

Reels is hardly a problem. Switch to browser , experience is just shit there. I have other demons to face

I mentioned them because they're short duration content, changing context very quickly

I have overcome this problem by just using DND/Aeroplane mode, putting phone somewhere and focusing on work. Initially thought that this is just a simple thing and it won’t work, but it really worked!

I am not recommending or shillig this but, taking Dabur's stresscom (Ashwagandha)really helped me to calm my mind, and helped with my bad habit of context switching

I have observed this problem with a lot of people and talked to them about how their focus and ultimately productivity is hampered by their smartphones. And though there are multiple apps to avoid this, I honestly think the solution to smartphone and apps won’t come in the form of another app. I believe the only practical way to reduce this is keeping smartphone out of your physical reach/proximity for some time in the day. I’m building a retro modern telephone to solve this as my side project. Hit me up if u would like to try it or just diss about smartphones in general.

How do you motivate yourself

Thanks to social media, my attention span has new lows. Working remotely is making me inactive and end up spending tooo much time on scrolling. Not able to continuously work for even one hour without checking the phone. Anyone in a simil...

Has anybody has ADHD?

I can't concentrate on anything for more than 15-20 mins, always likes to do 10 things at a time and feel unproductive if I don't.
