I have been working for my current employer for over 2 years as PM. Most of the employees haven't received any formal appraisal over the years. The company is going through some of the financial stress till last Dec. But it seems things are getting back in order as no more salary delays at my level.

I have heard and confirmed that few have received salary hikes either due to retention or other ways.

Searching for a job over the past 1 year but unable to land any yet. Its getting difficult to manage financially living on rent in mumbai, committing everyday to office and all.

HOW COULD I CONVINCE CEO OR WHAT SHOULD I WRITE THEM TO PURSUE THIS. PLS HELPPPP....🥺

I work on growth and marketing, and have to deal with perf marketing a lot. 
It is in these situations that I have to sometimes interface with people from FAANG or other larger companies. Because our org has major spends, we often have Account Managers/others from these companies as interface.

This experience is consistent across Microsoft, Google, Meta, etc. 
Firstly, they absolutely do not give two shits about your business. They will pretend to care about your business goals and even pretend that they understand what a startup needs. But they just dont. These are the most CHECKED OUT people I have ever met in my life

They meet with you like it's a check list. 

They absolutely do not care about startups. As platforms or as people. They don't give two fucks whether their work has any impact. It's just pretense - and hitting whatever basic targets they have. 

They do not care about anything related to work apart from 12 pm to 5 pm (their work timings)

They are a plague, slowing down society, lacking any spark to ever do any real work in this world.

A little background info before I get into the details:

I have left appraisals at the table (twice) to pursue better opportunities which offered me a varied job role. I am now stuck at the same organization for two years and my appraisal conversation has been going on for 7 months. Ridiculous, I know. This company has no growth prospects. I have not grown in the last two years in any aspect. Regret the day I left the appraisal & job promotion at my previous organization to join this company.

Naturally, I've started my job search and have landed a few offers but no one seems to offer me more than 30% and I need to correct my salary. 

How's the best way to ensure I get a package that can offer over 30%? I need atleast 45-50% to correct my salary.

What are the employees supposed to do?

Salary delayed twice in 4 months

Hey everyone,

I'm in a situation with my company's appraisal policy and could use some outside perspective.

The details:
- The company has a 1-year appraisal policy
- My work anniversary is July 3rd
- Co-founder says new salary will only be credited next month because my anniversary falls "in the middle of the month"

My view:
I should get the new salary this month on a pro-rata basis - the old salary is for 2 days, and the new salary is for 29 days.

Questions:
1. Is the company's stance normal practice?
2. Has anyone successfully argued for pro-rata salary updates in similar situations?
3. Any HR pros here who can weigh in on best practices?
4. How would you approach this conversation with management?

I'm trying to decide if this is worth pushing back on or if I should just let it go. Any advice or similar experiences would be appreciated!

Now, as a manager, how did you prepare yourself to share such feedbacks, both positive and negative. Did your team respect you less or more after appraisals?

There'd be employees who deserve more but due to higher management restrictions, they're unable to get the deserving number. How do you prepare in such situations?

So this lala shop that I'm working for wants to be a billion dollar company but doesn't believe in clearing salary arrears. 

This drama started around March this year just before the appraisal. The employee portal was shut down citing some "updates" and later they slyly updated terms and conditions related to appraisal in all of our offer letters. The outcome of this was although we were told that the salary was raised but we still received the old salary for 3 months (April, May, June). We were informed the arrears would be created by September. But no updates. 

It's November and still the HR is silent about the difference that they owe to us. 

What's the best way to tackle this situation? Of course I want to leave this company but not before I take my wages.

Hi All, 
I joined Deloitte in Nov,2023. During my joining i negotiated with the HR regarding the increment of my base pay as it was too less. HR gave me two options, 1. Either take a joining bonus of 50k with the same package, 2. Or be eligible for the next appraisal cycle i.e. april 2024. 

I wondered if my efforts in the project will be recognised or not by the end of april. So i choose to take the joining bonus with the same package. 

The HR has left the firm and i am not sure whom to ask and approach regarding the appraisal query. Will i still be ineligible for an appraisal of even 5-10% this year?

The company did around 10-15% silent layoffs in the last cycle by putting people in PIP. 
My Manager told me that he has pressure on him to put at least 1 or 2 people in PIP, make them leave the company and reduce costs.

Later, the company did as low an appraisal as 2%.

Senior folks are leaving specifically Frontend Developers.

Salaries of a lot of SDE-2 are below 30 LPA.

They have started new positions called Product Developers which will do the same work as SDEs but with a lesser package. PD-1 salary is around 10-12 lakhs and of Lead PD is 20-22 lakhs.

The company is putting itself in a position where it wants people to leave on their own.

There are almost zero perks in the company. 
The team outing budget is a joke which is 2k INR per person per year. That is 500 rupees per person per quarter. 

Also making office mandatory from November.

Good thing. Anyways their frontend devs and PMs were doing everything on Twitter except tech.

The job market has not been good for the last 12-15 months, but organisations around are offering good severance to their employees and aiding them for their next steps. But UC conducts "performance reviews" twice a year, which is basically a platform for managers to wage a personal vendetta against the "low performers"(read: people who don't suck up to them). And hence, they strategically 'ask people to leave', in return of making sure that terms like 'fired', 'laid off' would not be associated with them. So, people put in their papers, and serve the one month notice without working, and get that salary as their 'severance'. 

Leadership team goes on to boast the fact that there hasn't been any layoffs in the company. Well, fair, because one needs to own the fact that they've laid people off, and funnily enough one of the UC values is 'ownership', and managers do OWN the indifference to the sudden absence of a certain team member from meetings. 

Apparently, people perform fine till the time these half yearly reviews are conducted, because there isn't any concern about their performances in the regular one-on-ones with the managers, but cometh the review, cometh the concerns with performance. Managers nit pick over employees not responding within 15 minutes to their messages. Also, there isn't a 360° view of performance, so your peers, who work much closer to you don't have a say in your performance.

UC brags a 'meritocratic' culture, and rightly so, where ones merit is their ability to show their work as 10x of what it actually is, appearing to be busy with a completely packed calendar, and always saying yes to whatever manager says, even if it means bending over backwards for them.
