Design in India is toxic 💩
Is it just me or design culture in India is just becoming worse? Saw a lead designer come in for work. Sit down for 5 minutes and make crass jokes and then leave. What even man. I am super disappointed. All the best people I have worked with have either left or are about to leave. All the women in office become uncomfortable with these jokes and it is visible on their faces. They then take credit for our work and speak really well to the senior management about "HE" has done. I transitioned to design to learn and grow in my career but this is the least ambitious field I have seen in my career. What do you think?

its not just design, its just about how every department has these kinds of people.
Not having good design folks seems more like org problem than india problem. Have worked with some of the best designer minds.
Also taking credit for someone else’s work is everywhere man, eventually you end up learning how to navigate these waters.
Crass joke is the bigger issue and should not be entertained. Stand up whenever needed or Look the person directly in the eye with a dead face. This works more often than not.
It’s time for you to assert dominance and make worse jokes and compete on this level.

Completely agree, when I was doing an internship at a small business I was sent on a contract basis to another company. I had to edit the html and css to make the interface more appealing and the website was in php and laravel.
I literally had no idea about php and laravel and had to struggle a lot in finding lines where I had to make changes.
It was so toxic as they thought I am a designer and used to tell me to do all the designing on my own. They literally did not know the basic difference between UI/UX and Frontend Development (even the project manager with years of experience).
All this toxicity I faced was in 2nd month of starting my career and I wish I never work in such a toxic environment ever again.
