Difficult Life Situation

Been in corporate for 18+ years. It's been a good run by God's grace.

Situation currently is I have been WFH for last 3 years and office is requesting return to head office in a metro for at least 2d a week for senior folks.

Unfortunately as you can understand, I am 40 and got an ailing parent with me being primary caregiver. Moving is not practical.

Anyone else in same boat? What did you do?

Not the best example out but

Currently 25 years old. I was working as a non-techie in an MNC in Hyderabad. Left my job around 3 years ago, came back to my hometown and started helping my father in his business.

The actual reason? My father is not at the best of his health. I don't know how long he will stay with us. I don't want to spend my life regretting that I left him stranded even though if it costs me my career and ambitions. All I know is, I might not be able to purchase a Mercedes or Audi but I would have done my best to take care of my family.

Try to talk to senior management and explain your situation. If not, try for extension of 3-4 months and look for remote options. Last option is to take the parents with you temporary and once you get remote or flexible option, resign.

Thanks bro. That's what I think it's gonna be. Be here for 3-4 months n serve notice. Not sure of life post that but I am hopeful it will go on

Eventually you have to come back to office. First, mentally accept that going back is a reality, then you can figure out how to make it happen.
In next 2 years most middle and senior mgmt roles will be from office. You might lose out on them, by not being in office. All major cities have good healthcare support that can help ailing seniors.
