Engine need to heat up on cold start?
There is an opinion on car and bike community that engine need to heat up before u can drive them. Is this true?
I think u can drive the car without even thinking abt operating temp or not and jst don't rev to redline after cold start.

Should be fine for modern cars and bike. It's not like you want to drive it for 20 years or something.
No this is not required for modern engines. In older engines which had a carburettor, the fuel didn't atomize properly in cold temperatures so it was recommended to heat up the engine before driving off. Just don't drive with a very high RPM as soon as you start the engine.
It's saying for increasing life of engine. Load on engine will be less if you pre heat it. Nothing else.
It is a good practice even with modern engines. Especially if you drive one that has a turbocharger.
Letting the engine warmup after a cold start just for a minute or two allows the engine oil to reach closer to its operating temperature and start circulating properly, meaning lesser stress on critical engine components.
All cars/bikes have their idling rpm run high after a cold start and it drops by 300-400 rpm after some time. Try and notice if that happens in your vehicle. If idling rpm does drop after a while, your vehicle does need to warm up a bit before you start driving. If not, be on your jolly way immediately

Bt the turbos usually opens after a specific RPM usually 2000 rpm right.
And if u are not living on some cold place like delhi at winter this is not needed because i never saw any cars have really high RPM in cold start in 16-28 degree Celsius. Some air cooled bike engine does have high rpm even on normal banglore climate.
