You did not mention what kind of a founder
Hi - Fi founders such as Kunal Bahl, Shah, VSS, Byju et. all sell dreamz not just tell a story. A dream to change the world on Excel and create a FOMO with investors.
If you want to be a "normal" founder who want to build wealth with solving a real problem , you will need to be all rounder. Can you talk to tech and product about roadmaps, review sales data and give ideas to marketing on how to increase sales. Talk to R&D and have them build a product that market does not have. Talk to finance about Sales, Revenue, EBIDTA, Profit, PAT, debt, equity, RSU. Interview to media houses about your vision, meeting and hiring your direct reports, townhall to employees about company progress..... all of these in a Week/ Month? Remember you can hire to execute only but not take decision
Demo all of the above to a investor and sum up the above all in 1 hour presentation?

Surprised no one has mentioned finance skills. If you're able to tie what initiatives you are building to your company's finance book then you're going to be out runway sooner than you know
When you say finance skills, do you mean that they have to be an expert or just knowledgeable enough to handle money and use it in right resources?
Not an expert but basics like - accounting, finance statements, sales/collections/payments where and how they tie up with the financial statements, cash flow, returns
Mostly a founder will end up with a good CA in his office who will oversee these aspects. Will you be able to understand their language? Again I don't mean hardcore accounting/finance knowledge but basics of it
There is no one skill to be a founder - leadership, vision, humility and capability (in your primary field (marketing / tech /sales?)) is the general formula and very rarely do people have it all / build upto it.
What is equally important is to balance out weaknesses with your cofounders / team and make a coherent unit that is great at leading people, having a coherent strategy and has great execution.
There is too much to learn along the way and even big names in the market are yet to learn it all. Get on the train to learn it all and never de-board it.

Skill anyone can learn. It depends on the strength/quality of the founder. All schools/colleges/trainingās teaches only at skill level. Strengths are self discovered and corresponding skills are practiced. Letās say a sales person should have good persuasion strengths which makes up good negotiation skills. Leader or founder should have resilience, growth, drive strengths which makes his leadership skills. Same with most kind of work.
How he can inspire people. Be it cofounders or customers or other stakeholders.
