Identifying a Baby founder

I know sometimes we refrain from saying too much about our company. But exes can usually be talked about, since there's not much holding back. Maybe it helps someone else avoid a mistake you did, or gain a new learning :p Shoot.

1. High pressure on timelines- business and top management shits on you if you don’t deliver on time 2. No power to control the outcome- engineers don’t listen to you neither does the design or analytics team, you end up begging for resources 3. Too much politics- business or a senior PM can steal your bandwidth anytime 4. Lack of recognition- if it succeeds business did it, if it fails it is product teams fault (engg never gets blamed for shit)

How is the company doing? Is it also in trouble like zestmoney or have they cracked the business model? And how is the leadership team like

I have been talking to a few companies, across different size bands. Only Indian startups seem to obsessed with full week WFO/Micromanagement. A few years back, startups were known for being more flexible, now it just seems to be the reverse.

What’s the experience like? Have you thought if joining a corporate would be better?

The current company which I work in is backed by YC and is one of the most toxic workplaces I have ever seen. I joined as one of the early engineers and since then the founders attitude and ego have only become worse. The thing is they think hiring anyone in a short span of time can replace someone who’s working there for like more than 2 years and have built the product from scratch. This just infuriates me.

4yoe Engineer turned Product Manager. It's been 8 months I joined this B2B SaaS startup as an APM. Engineering team... mostly interns. Most of my time goes into execution following up with devs. Is the PR reviewed, is the bug fix deployed. No Jira, scrum, sprint planning whatsoever. CEO runs the whole show. Only fear driven product management. I have no idea what it means to work on vision or strategy. My career has started off with a shitty foundation. Everyday I feel like quitting. What should I do? Quit right away or wait n switch to a better company?

NextLevel has entered maintenance mode. Friends working on it have kind of confirmed. Idk why they even started this product. There was zero need for it, but management just HAD to have their way. Everyone working on NextLevel has basically given up at this point. We're in maintenance mode, just waiting for the official announcement. The product roadmap was a joke from day one. Instead of focusing on something actually useful, they kept adding random bells and whistles. Oh, let's make it like Gas app with polling! Let's throw in some Inshorts-style news! 🙄 Here's a pro tip: copying features from 3 different products doesn't magically create one great product. It's like they threw spaghetti at the wall and hoped something would stick. This is a lesson for anyone trying to build in the consumer space. You can pour all the resources you want into something, but if your thinking is fundamentally flawed, you're just burning the money. Management needs to actually listen to people who know what they're talking about. But nah, they'd rather chase their pet projects and ego trips.
